Those are good q6600 settings for the P07 bios for sure. So mid 60's c is the temps? The zalman coolers are ok but overclocked quads produce a lot of heat. Of course the temps are directly related to your ambient temp and case air flow, so that's something to consider. Your vcore should be fine and as long as you can keep temps to a reasonable level you should be able to run stable that way for days at 100% load. I'm going to start experimenting with a 45nm quad and bios 118 in the next few days.

There was some minor issues like hangouts during games/ very occasionally / and driver crashes but nothing fatal... I changed graphic drivers several times and now running well...
So probably driver issues.. Sometimes I'm not sure about what caused crash, because on bad oc I got more driver crashes..
But as I wrote, now for 4 weeks fine.. Thanks loonym for so much help with it...
I think it could run 4.05 GHz as well, but I like temperatures with these settings and summer is comming too

    This maybe help someone ...

    BIOS P07
    FSB 430 x 9 /3870/
    RAM 860 /ratio 1:1/
    CPU V +2250
    NB V 1.375
    RAM V 2.1
RAM Timing on AUTO /5-6-6-20 T2/

Tried FSB Term voltage on +63 and no frying of my processor at all...
Even, I think, no changes on temperatures... No stability improvement as well.
I got a feeling it's not working with dualcore..

Didn't try 118 Bios yet... Someone with that BIOS and E8400/8500?

    lol

I think you're right on with the thing about certain forceware drivers causing big issues. And I still think those issues are related somehow to conflicts in the code in certain bios' for this board.

It's stable at 2000/1000 all day, as long as I don't reboot... that makes me sad.
You have to physically reseat the cpu everytime you have a failed oc? Won't clr cmos button take care of that? What cooling are you using? I haven't removed the heatsink since I set this up and I've crashed it on every combination of settings I could dream up and a few I had in bad nightmares.

    No, just copy/paste it
Some problems gone after I changed NForce drivers as well /first packet working well/ it was slower on sending/recieving packets compared to nearly the same configuration with asus srtriker II extreme.. now I'm faster when for example loading arenas in HL2 deadmatch through the same router..

Here are my setting to reach 3.4 stable.

    fsb 1510
    dram 800
    adjuste dram 755
    adjust cpu ratio 9
    pci freq 100
    cpu volts 0.13750
    dram 2.00
    nb 1.500
    sb 1.525
    nb memory ref auto
    dimm memory auto
    memory term auto
    cpu gtl 35
    nb gt 35
    fsb term 30
    sb auto
    pci auto

I ran seti for 8 hours it pegged all four cpus and no crashes or any problems.. I also ran 3 cmd line clients and 1 gpu client on my ati x2 for folding and that was fine as well. My idle temp is 97 full load around 127 to 135 max. Now i just hope everything runs great and no crashes but with my luck lately who knows....

Hi all im running at 6850 just tryed the 1800/900 settings listed on first page and didnt get very far i know they are more for a q6600 but thought i would try has anyone seen a 6850 run well on one of these boards. Its fine at 3.6 (1600) setting but will not boot @4.02
I tried upping the vcore a bit and the nb to 1.55 but i wasnt sure about some of the other settings.
Im still using bios 1.0 as it is the only stable one i have used for my setup.

any help and idea more than welcome
    Cheers

What bios have you tried? If you could go to .118 it'll show you real world voltages and that in turn will help you with settings.

    SLI Slot Change

If you read the updates on the first page, I was the user who reported the substantial difference in SLI performance when using the lower slot for SLI on the P7N Diamond.

I wanted to let others users know that I have since had reason to move the card to the lower slot again and found this time that I only lost 2000 pts in 3DMark06 (compared to my previous 4000 pt loss).

Interestingly, I have also dropped from 2Gb of RAM to 1Gb, suggesting that my real performance drop due to slot change is most likely to be in line with others - around 700 pts or so. I will confirm when I get my other stick of RAM back.

I agree with Loonym, that the 1.18B BIOS is the best bet at the moment, unless you have major stability issues with it.

hi theYipster, loonym, aaron, everybody long time no see (been so busy at work, grrrr )

yep ! no more USB problems when detecting my mouse and keyboard, booting no problem from USB storage devices, etc... definately left that overclocking thing : my computer is so stable and working the way I want it, so no need for me to overclock right now.

I don't know if you've noticed the post I made at MSI's about video corruption problems with nVidia 7xx chipsets. just wanted to let you know that nVidia is looking at the problem, and has been able to reproduce it. they expect to release a fix (new drivers ? new bios ? no clue yet) for 780i first on may 26th, according to nVidia FAQ 2190... wait and see

    see you soon guys

    Gamin

with this new bios coming out will it make its way to msi as it isnt the base Nvidia model?

I found that my board will run much better with just 1gb of ram once i try and run 2 it flakes out on me.
Also i have just turned it on and it wont run at stock speeds now every time i go into the bios i get about 3 to 6 moves and it locks up think it should rma this board back and get something else just dont know what

    Hi Loonym

Yeah set everything manually tried all sorts of volts up to 1.6 on the cpu but still hit and miss on it booting its a funny board one minute it will be ok next it wont even let me in the bios with out resetting the cmos.
things like timings i set so it was running at its SPD, it shouldnt have a problem running them as the ram is 9200 (1150) and i only had it running at 800.

I just cant work the board out not sure if i should try loading 1.18 bios again thinking with my luck it will crash out on me half way in lol

    cheers

Seems odd to me to see ram not like this board. I have 3 different PC6400 2x2gb cl4 pairs (ocz, patriot, adata) and they all do very well with 2.05v, 4-4-4-8 1T @ 400...

Looking for a 780 or 750 board to run sli with my q6600 (proven @ 3.6 8*450mhz on Asus p5k-e) and was wondering do you have the video corruption issues on the msi like the other 780's? Do you think i'll be able to hit 3.6ghz 8*450 on this board with my q6600? non-vdroop bios option in ASus p5k-e is excellent so i'm worried my q6600 wont be able to accomplish the same thing on another board so i might just go with a x48 and wish for a hacked sli driver.

Well you won't find a hacked SLI driver, I can almost guarantee that.

As for the P7N Diamond, my board and Q6600 is capable of 450x9 and perhaps more, but to be honest, OC success has been inconsistent for most. Hardware wise, it's a fantastic board, but it's limitations have been due to a strange and immature BIOS. The BIOS has improved tremendously since the board's release, and I have no doubt that in time the P7N will be a great OCer for all (I just hope that this will be before we all switch to Nehelem.) However, right now 450x8 may be a bit of a gamble. The board is more than capable of it, but even the latest BIOSes are somewhat hit or miss.

If you want excellent hardware and can handle a difficult BIOS, the P7N will do you well. If not, a 750i board, such as the EVGA 750 FTW may be your best bet. As for the video corruption issues (which I believe effects all boards,) nVidia is aware of the problem and is scheduled to release a fix by the end of the month.
