What error code? Wouldnt be surprised if it doesnt like the ram you are using, did you guys try with different chips?

i dont remember the code ill ask him later.. 3 different cpu's and 2 sets of ram. one was good old standard ddr2 667 value stuff the other was dominator's..

got my dk x38 in. Installed vista x64 and decided to follow DFI's instructions with winflash. Started flashing and winflashed crashed!!!!! Reboot with a USB bootable flashed handy and it won't boot anymore. Error C1. Now I must RMA. Thanks dfi.

Got my board shipped back. Should get a replacement in a week or two.

Still BS that DFI's website mention nothing about winflash and vista 64. if it had I would had gladly made a bootable cd and awdflashed it.

Your Windows install must be altered. The downloaded version of WinFlash does not have kernel mode signing and thus will not flash a BIOS on a normal Vista 64 Bit install.

I've got a 64 Bit version from Phoenix but it's not quite stable enough for release.

Doesn't change the fact DFI's own website advised me to do as such, No mention of any vista 64 issues. Should I have googled winflash + vista 64 to research before flashing? Yes but I've winflashed many boards before, just none in vista.

I emailed DFi to make a note on their BIOS section directions concerning vista 64 and winflash,

Besides this crappy setback, I like the board, good layout. Northbridge heatsink is a little finicky. It wiggles to the touch due to crappy pushpins.

I noticed you also need to spread with a razorblade interface goop on the northbridge. A Dot or line won't spread out enough. (DK version of course)

Also whos adding a active fan on the northbridge heatsink? 70mm 80mm?

I got a 120mm window fan blowing over it but that doesn't do much good when it doesn't go through the fins.

i would never even try it under vista 64
get a spare bios chip from biosdepot on ebay 10$ cheaper than shippin a board back n waiting

I love and hate this board. It runs so fast and smooth. Then randomly, when I am doing nothing, it will hard lock. No BSOD, just insta-death. It will runn wprime 10 times in a row at 1024m with out complaint. Ideas?

Same behavior here.
No BOSDs at all, but lockups with corrupted screen image. Very random, indeed.

Im running some Cellshock @ 1100 5-5-5-12, pl 6 is a no go .400/1066 strap or w/e its called
Cant get it to work at 800 4-4-4-10 either (1:1) mode.

vNB = 1.4v, tried increasing to 1.45 to no avail, do i need to go higher?

Me, too. Happens at stock or OC. I was thinking it was something to do with certain websites or flash animations. I ran Windows Memtest overnight on mine and was 100% stable. However, SuperPI stops responding at the highest 2-3 settings.

Same here, with SPI -- 1M/2M are fine to pass, but anything more stressing locks the application w/ error message.
However, I can play GoW, for instance, with hours...

4-4-4-4-10 @1000 is closer to 5-5-5-15@1150 just bandwidth higher on dfi
on p35 its close to 1200

i try max with lowest memory voltage for me so far 2.06v=1230mhz with ballistix"when i get more time i will test lower voltage @1200+"

333/800 divider requires the least voltage nb and vdmm
1.98v@1100 for now is ok for surfin lol

Ok i pulled the trigger on a x3350 last week, haven't tested much due to nice weather outside :P
To make a long story short, i ran into problems when going above 420-425 FSB...430 is an instant freeze in windows.
So what i need is a preset for my ram with loose timings (atm i use everything auto) and some recommendations on voltages to get me a good start.

P.S. i read that too much vtt (>1,4v) could kill the cpu, are there any other settings which i should avoid (maybe too high sb voltage or something ?

I dont really think you need to increase SB, unless you are having trouble with Raid or something like that :p.
I think you'll need to tweak the GTL values, and thats a , I cant get them to work at all lol.. So im staying at 425FSB atm . I kinda like this tho, didnt need to up neither VTT nor vCPU lol :p

You're right with the GTL values but as i want to squeeze this baby out i want to know if there's something which helps with high fsb. Apart from this i'am running 4x1 GB STicks ...so stress on nb should be pretty high.
