Anyway, glad to see it worked for you. There are some in stock over here, will just have to save a little more cash and get one soon.
It's weird, now I can see it, it was sent Yesterday, 07:15 PM - taking in mind the time difference, exactly at your 10:15 AM. Yesterday I didn't see it in my PM folder.

I am posting some pictures, as promised. First one - without spacers, the PCB is already bowed, but the pressure was not even good enough.
Second picture - if you loose screws, your contact is not good enough for the last chips, if you apply more pressure - look at the picture above.

Some more pictures regarding the results.

First one - the polished surface, machine cut traces are still visible a bit, confirming the flatness of the surface, though the surface finish is much better.

Second one - the card with a mounted WB, we can see that the weight is applied just on several screws and, finally, on a PCI-E connector, the angle of force is present, it is especially bad with a vertical MB mount.
    It is pretty unbalanced construction.

Third one - installed nylon spacers. I had been able to have PCBs mounted almost unbowed/straight, keep a good contact with chips and apply significantly more pressure on screws to have the WB fixed without moving.

This solution helps a lot, but it is still worse than for example used by EVGA, because their spacers are copper ones and one can apply the correct pressure without caring about it's level.

I had to use nylon/plastic ones because I can't make copper spacers with enough precision and could easily make nylon ones equal applying a bit more or less pressure.

It is so easy to manage in a manufacturing facility, I am very surprised why EK didn't do it or at least put some correct spacers with 9800GX2 WBs.

GMCG did you contact EK Eddy about this? My observation is he is extremely responsive to his customers. I would at least give EK a chance to do you right . . .there are enough quality companies out there so if you do not like one you can always find another. I thought EK started using the built in stand offs like DD has . . .to stop the bowing.

I have left several messages on EK website through my account, got no response. Also I don't understand - if they have started to do it correctly, why did I get the old version, I have received it just recently, and the item was shipped on April 28th to me ... just a week ago.

Those DD WBs on your picture are better definitely, but EVGA ones are the best IMO, period.

    physical size of 9800GX2 blocks

Are there any 9800GX2 waterblocks that are thin enough for two cards to fit in two double spaced (1.60 inch center to center) PCIe x16 slots? I've sent emails to most of the manufacturers. So far only reply is from DangerDen: NO.

    skippy

Well I have my EK installed and am thrilled at the results. I'm seeing 34C idle and 37-38C fully loaded temps. I have been able to run the core/shaders to 800/2000 benchable. This is WAY better than what I could do with the stock cooler, not to mention the noise of that fan is gone.

There is one feature I like about the EVGA version although it clearly means the internals are designed totally different than the EK or DD solution . . .having more options for barb placement. We REALLY need to see all the internals of all three blocks and some flow tests and temp tests!!!!!

How expensive will the EK blocks be to the USA with the exchange rate? I personally think EK quality is worth the cost regardless . . .unless there is an EQUAL or close product available here. As I have said over and over . . .if I cannot get a product from Danger Den then EK is my go to company, then other excellent companies pretty much in Euroville . . .
