Okay, now it's my turn with problems...

    Check this:

This morning, I turn on my pc and and everything was fine, boot normaly, start windows, everything without problems.

Now for the afternoon, when I turn on again he start to boot, and freeze in ROG LOGO.

Then, I did a clear cmos, and same problem. Many reset's, many clear cmos, test each stick of ram in all slots, took the battery, turned off all usb devices, ethernet, everything, and the same damn result.

So, I boot many times, and for some reason, it boot. WTF?

I've flashed the bios past week for 1007.

I'm a bit afraid to turn off again my pc

    Any idea? RMA it?

    Best regards,

well i flashed from 1001 to 1004 and it screwed up my RAID array - i can only use the 320GB drives that i had installed. When i built an array of 2x 750GB drives the array fails on restart/shutdown

    Good news

Well, 4 days later, with some reset's and never stuck again on usbfinal.

But, when i re-installed my x-fi again, in first time BSOD on windows logo, second time BSOD 15 seconds later than windows logo, third time, works normal, with folding, playing and no more BSOD.

I'm tired this BIOS, i will flash back to 904, best bios so far

I haven't had any issues so far with 1007, seems happy with my small oc, i'm gonna try my 2x 750GB drives again (in RAID0) to see if the array fails again, coz i'm sure flashing from 1001 to 1004 screwed up my ICH9R RAID controller, we will see

Just did some tests with the 1007 BIOS - better for 45nm chips if You run hi FSB & hi mem frequency.

Different sub timings on AUTO & different refresh rate from previous versions.

Clock twister = strong, booster = enabled lvl.2, static read & dyn. write = disabled, tRFC = 82.

I never managed to get 1000MHz on the RAM stable with the 0904 BIOS though it was long time best for me.

Now I'll do some 32M testing.
    If nothing works nomore......:

I want a bios that will make my qx6850 stable at 440fsb, f*ck 450fsb i've given up any hope of that ever happening.
I never thought i'd say it but i have given up on this board like a few other people. I swear the board is laughin at me, its definitely got it in for me. All i ever done was feed it with the best hardware i could afford. It just wasn't good enough.

Bring on the DFI x45-t3r thats what i say. BLOODY HURRY UP DFI!

I just got my ME from my RMA to Asus

After a nice 3 hour build, includeing a few mins with my room mates GF's hair dryer to get the NB off it booted fine with 803 bios.

after reading here I flashed to 804 and had constant crashes at 3.2ghz on my Q6600 and DDR31600, 7-6-5-15 from Supertalent.

Flashed to 1007 and everything seems find so far, from my place at least 1007 is much better then 804.

Hi, all. New here. Not new to building systems, but, new to flashing bios. Everything was running fine with this board although during boot it wanted a new bios to take full advantage of unrecognized CPU (Q9450). Tried to flash 1007 with Easy Flash 2. Now it will not post. Several questions if someone could help me:

1-What is the most stable bios that will recognize full potential of Q9450?
2-What is the safest way to flash the bios? ASUS said Easy Flash 2 was the safest, but, it failed for me? Why?
3-Why does flashing bios have so many issues? Are we in the 21st century? At the very least they could have a removable bios chip if it had so many issues instead of tearing down my whole rig.

    TIA

Dont go/use via BIOS -> EZ Flash

EZ Flash 2 is the utility that is pulled up when you Alt+F2 at post. That is what I did. Are you talking about ASUS Update Utility? Whould I be able to recover my crash if I had used Crash Free Bios 3 utility? Camoflauge, how have you been flashing? Is their a fail safe way to flash, I do not want to tear apart my system and RMA again, that sucks.

Any agreement to what the most stable bios for a Q9450 is? What is exactly happening with the bios that comes with the board? It is Core Duo ready, wants an update to unlock the potential of a Q9450, but it runs a Q9450. Is is only using two of the four cores or something?

Sorry for all the lame questions, I'd be able to figure it out if my board wasn't frozen. Thanks for all the help.

    Maximus Extreme BIOS Recovery
Rename Maximus Extreme BIOS to EXTREME.ROM and put on USB Flash.
Press and hold the CTRL and HOME keys at the same time.
This will force the system (assuming the 'boot block' isn't corrupted) to access the USB Flash and look for the EXTREME.ROM file.
