I didn't read through this whole thread, but sorry if was pointed out earlier, but maybe you got "remaked" DFI boards that DFI knows about ...
I have had DFI boards for years and have never had a single problem with them ...![]()
I just got my first DFI board and it posted and worked out of the box. I haven't OCed it yet though.

Hi all,
I recently bought a couple of old DFI socket 939 Lanparty boards on Ebay. One board (an NF4) didn't come with a motherboard I/O plate or audio raiser module... Usual Ebay bulls***!!
I emailed DFI support (European). They got back to me within a couple of days and had both parts out to me within a week of the original Email.
Both boards overclocked well and were stable - though of course I leapfrogged the usual DFI beta-BIOS issues!!
One bad experience means nothing...
I have found Gigabyte and Tyan to be far more lacking... Their response to missing I/O plates for Ebay/2nd hand boards was well - nothing, nada, not interested!! I remember phoning Gigabyte (UK) technical support as I wished to boot Windows XP from stripped U320 SCSI drives on old GA-8KNXP Ultra-64 board. I was told I shouldn't do this! Of course I just needed a BIOS update to support Adaptec Host RAID!
Bob
just thought of something that *may* bring back the Venus to life: a new BIOS chip.. I'll buy one when I'm good & ready..

I've just had a very poor DFI 790FX experience, no boot with anything and its brand new. First one had way too many problems and incompatibilities. So much wait and so on, but I had to return it for a refund to the retailer, product EOL. I'm not sure what is happening with them, but their QC is downhill strongly.
Pretty much everyones quality control is going downhill these days it's not like only DFI boards arrive dead or with major issues.
Well, I'm pretty discouraged. I chose the E3110 and the DFI DK P35 board because so many people were touting how easy it was to get to 4GHz. I have done the following:
- 8 x 500FSB
- 1:1 Memory
- VCore over 1.4v (1.37v actual)
- DRAM 2.11v
- NB 1.55v
- VTT 1.1v
- GTL .67/.67/.67
At this point, I have added 250mV to VCore. After that, the additional voltages are in red and I am afraid to go there. Here I paid $140 for a DFI Lanparty DK board, and people are getting to 4GHz on $100 Gigabyte boards. What's worse, I have the Gigabyte DS3L board untouched, unopened in my office. I am staring at it now. I was talked out of a Gigabyte DS3R because the DFI is so much better.
Right now, I am just discouraged and disappointed.![]()

Crunching for [XS]
Damn, after reading this thread i dont got full trust for my DFI 680i LT board anymore. The X-fi crackle is still there after BIOS update.
There involved black magic, voodoo, all kinds of sacred and forbidden satanic rituals to bring this board to life but it works now. (fingers crossed)
Though it was pretty cheap,60€ equals ~ 95$ and i dont and cant RMA it since it has been welded with pretty harsh hand.
Already got one DFI bloodiron broken (they say the chipset is broken, call me blind but i think i would notice if the chipset would be split in half or would have a crack in it)
Maybe next board will be eVGA,i aint touching Asus for sure and if this mobo put the smoke out,no DFI either.
Someone already mentioned Europe got better laws in these RMA matters, just throwing guesses here but it could possibly be true.
Atleast here in Finland we got very strick touch to these matters and even if the customer were wrong, they might still refund cause they are affraid of the agency that makes sure customers wont get screwed.
The BloodIron has a sticker on the Northbridge heatsink. If the sticker wasn't tampered with then it wouldn't matter the condition of the NB as it would be covered by warranty because the heatsink would not have been removed by the user. If the sticker did show signs of tampering then once again the condition of the NB means nothing because the warranty would be void. Just as the sticker says.
My DFI is really picky about memory voltage and timings.. but all in all.. great board. (DFI DK P35)
Seems a bit harsh. My DFI ICFX3200-T2R/G is probably the single best motherboard I've ever owned. It has been rock solid, more overclockable than others, feature-rich, etc.

I think I'm going to agree with this thread. The DFI mobo I own just fried it self and probably my gpu. Its been flakey since the day I got it, giving me memory bugs, clock bugs, and crashes since the day I got it. In a way, I'm glad its dead. I never liked it to begin with... and apparently nearly everyone who bought this board had similar issues with it.
Why I didn't replace it? A lot of different reasons that I'm not going to bother explaining.
So sorry, but I'm on board with this. They shouldn't sell a product unless its fit for customer use.
Let the flaming begin!!![]()

Hmmm I was thinking Asus as my next board too... but the system before this one was an asus and the same exact thing happened. The board fried, and took out the GPU with it. lol
I just realised a trend....

Hi there. As u may notice, I live in russia.
So when A64 were popular, i decided to buy a DFI product to get an awesome OC. But to my pity there were no DFI boards in Moscow, so i had to wait for a month. Then my board arrived. But a week or two later it died. I think it was my fault but retailer was convinced in another =P The board was SLI-DR.
After it I've heard about Expert board. But in 2-3 month no one didn't get it here, so I bought it only when i was in Japan.
Unfortunately it has a mysterious bug: it didn't work with BH-5\6 which i was using. And nothing helped. Even downclock. So after a two weeks of dancing around my rig i finally sold it and got another SLI-DR. And it's alive now)
But i don't know about their new products coz it's hard to get it here =\ *or i'm too lazy =P*

My friend's Lanparty UT X48 T3R won't boot CAS 7 RAM. At first it was... bummer, but a little patience and hot flashing did the trick. All manufacturers have their ups and downs.
I have an Asus board, with "terrific" customer support. My P5VD2-X USB 2.0 front headers can only run at USB 1.0, Tech support told me not to use the front headers so that I can have all USB 2.0 ports. Amazing... best support ever.
