im possibly thinking of ditching my evga 780i for this board. This thread is so long could someone just tell me very quickly the differences in the LT and UT other than price? All it looks like to me is different stock heatpipes.

This Board overvolts bigtime compared to the P35. Is this an added feature of the X48 or is it just happening with my board and the settings that I have. Also if over volting is not a feature then could someone explain to me why it is happening. Eg set 1.2375v in Bios, shows up as 1.248v Load CPUz. Vdroop enabled.

I guess i'm sloshed as well cause my board overvolts too. I have Vcore 1.306 with special add 100.23% and get 1.34v as indicated in SG and Everest. It does Vdroop to 1.32 under load since I have it enabled. I'm running the official 0320 bios. I just use the bios setting as a trending setting. If I need more I go up, then check SG and Everest to see what it really is.

Well, I will give it a try with Special Add NOT set to AUTO and see if this might rectify the Over Voltage. One more question for you guys about CLUNK'S GTL Ref Tables, and by the way Clunk thanks for all the effort in setting up this guide Post. I still DO NOT understand if there is a relationship between the CPU VTT and the NB VTT or if there is any.
For example if I use the values of 110 (GTL 1/2 Ref) 105 (GTL 0/3 Ref) and 85 (NB GTL Ref) from Clunks Table for 1.2500v CPU VTT BIOS Setting, what should the Voltage be for the NB VCore in the BIOS, can that be anything I set it to for example 1.405v.
The reason I ask is that P95 failed after 9.5h it fell over executing the 4096K FFT, so I figured I would focus on the NorthBridge

I can understand a little variance but we're talking the difference between 100.24% and 102.6%. Like I said, i'm not pissed about it. It's just that i've never been able to fully trust the Vcore settings. The rest of them seem to be pretty spot on though.
Wasn't your board a X38 flashed with the X48 bios? If so, that could be the reason you're board behaved differently.

Well They have blocked the Special Add Option and I cannot use it unless I set the VCORE to >1.3000v. This really SUCKS, so I guess I cannot fine tune the voltage I need unless I run at a speed that requires more than 1.3000v.
Oh I did read the reason why as explained to Clunk by DFI.

this mosfet sec gets REALLY HOT! I can barely keep my fingers on it for more then a couple of seconds
anybody come up with a cooling solution for it? or do I just have to make a custom sink?

Took me a while to get around to OC my chip w/ this board due to work but I finally got my basic OC finished. OC is stable 5 hours Prime Blend and 7 hours small FFT's. Further memory testing done using memtest w/ 3 instances running simultaneously for ~1.5 hours @ a time. Here are my settings:
I'm using some new RAM w/ this set up. I swore I wouldn't buy anymore RAM but I couldn't help myself. After hearing Tony speak of the FlexII's I checked out some reviews of these sticks and was generally impressed w/ their performance and I also like the support forum over at OCZCode:CPU Feature Thermal Management Control: Disabled PPM(EIST) Mode: Disabled Limit CPUID MaxVal: Disabled CIE Function: Disabled Execute Disable Bit: Enabled Virtualization Technology: Disabled Core Multi-Processing: Enabled Exist Setup Shutdown: Mode 2 Shutdown after AC Loss: Disabled CLOCK VC0 divider: Auto CPU Clock Ratio Unlock: Enabled CPU Clock Ratio: 9.5x Target CPU Clock: 3800MHz CPU Clock: 400MHz Boot Up Clock: Auto DRAM Speed: 266/667 Target DRAM Speed: 1003MHz PCIE Clock: 110MHz PCIE Slot Config: 4x NC CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled SATA Spread Spectrum: Disabled Voltage Settings CPU ViD Control: 1.30625V (1.32V) CPU VID Special Add: Auto DRAM Voltage Control: 1.958V (1.90V) SB Core/CPU PLL Voltage: 1.510V NB Core Voltage: 1.278V (1.29V) CPU VTT Voltage: 1.100V (1.10V) Vcore Droop Control: Enabled Clockgen Voltage Control: 3.45V GTL+ Buffers Strength: Strong Host Slew Rate: Weak GTL REF Voltage Control: Enabled x CPU GTL1/3 REF Volt: 65 x CPU GTL 0/2 REF Volt: 64 x North Bridge GTL REF Volt: 48 DRAM Timing Enhance Data transmitting: Fast Enhance Addressing: Fast T2 Dispatch: Disabled Clock Setting Fine Delay Ch1 Clock Crossing Setting: Aggressive DIMM 1 Clock fine delay: 1330 DIMM 2 Clock fine delay: Current Ch 1 Command fine delay: 420 Ch 1 Control fine delay: Current Ch1 Command fine delay: 910 Ch2 Clock Crossing Setting: Aggressive DIMM 3 Clock fine delay: 1190 DIMM 4 Clock fine delay: Current Ch 2 Command fine delay: 210 Ch 2 Control fine delay: Current Ch2 Command fine delay: 980 Ch1Ch2 CommonClock Setting: Aggressive Ch1 RDCAS GNT-Chip Delay: Auto Ch1 WRCAS GNT-Chip Delay: Auto Ch1 Command to CS Delay: Auto Ch2 RDCAS GNT-Chip Delay: Auto Ch2 WRCAS GNT-Chip Delay: Auto Ch2 Command to CS Delay: Auto CAS Latency Time (tCL): 5 RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD): 5 RAS# Precharge (tRP): 4 Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12 All Precharge to Act: 5 REF to ACT Delay (tRFC): 44 Performance LVL (Read Delay) (tRD): 7 Read delay phase adjust: Enter Ch1 Read delay phase (4~0) Channel 1 Phase 0 Pull-In: Enabled Channel 1 Phase 1 Pull-In: “ Channel 1 Phase 2 Pull-In: “ Channel 1 Phase 3 Pull-In: “ Channel 1 Phase 4 Pull-In: “ Ch2 Read delay phase (4~0) Channel 2 Phase 0 Pull-In: Enabled Channel 2 Phase 1 Pull-In: “ Channel 2 Phase 2 Pull-In: “ Channel 2 Phase 3 Pull-In: “ Channel 2 Phase 4 Pull-In: “ MCH ODT Latency: 1 Write to PRE Delay (tWR): 14 Rank Write to Read (tWTR): 11 ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD): 3 Read to Write Delay (tRDWR): 8 Ranks Write to Write (tWRWR): 5 Ranks Read to Read (tRDRD): 5 Ranks Write to Read (tWRRD): 5 Read CAS# Precharge (tRTP): 5 ALL PRE to Refresh: 5. So....2 days later....the FlexII's are definitely worth the money.
Other thoughts. Using the 2x2GB sticks must be less stressful on the NB than populating all 4 DIMM slots because 1.29V on the NB is far less than the 1.55-1.58V my Maximus required to run 4x1GB sticks of PC-9200 Mushkin @ 1067MHz 5-5-4-12-30.
I've got to hand it to the DFI guys, they definitely put together a well thoughtout and stable BIOS. I only had to clear the CMOS once and that's when I started messing around with fine delay settings. Other than that it was clear sailing the whole way to 3.8GHz.

I'm using one of those Antec Spot Coolers bent over and blowing on the PWM, I've got it plugged into the system fan plug so that I can control the speed of it via software, but it also has a 3-speed switch on it.
