Eh, I'm a lazy OCer, but my last ASUS mobo left a bad taste, so I came back to DFI.

It's amazing what a wall you hit at that FSB 420 spot. I was trying to get it stable at 425 and was still having problems with being stable for longer than 5 minutes in Prime 95 (I still had voltage room to play with, but I like to be conservative). I knocked back the FSB to 420, and I keep finding I can keep knocking the CPU and VTT voltage back more and more and still not get any P95 errors. Funny how big a difference that 5 Mhz is.

clunk do u know when dfi x48-t3R is coming out??

read anantech's review, they have a great starting point guide for 500fsb with this board..

i tried reducing vcore to 1.45 but lost stability so i had to increase it back to 1.47 wont go lower
i did manage to reduce vtt to 1.310 120/110/90 and it didnt effect stability
i will try lowering vnb down to 1.5 but i doubt it will work .
i did have it at 500fsb 4ghz stable but it required over 1.5 vcore and over 1.6 vnb its not worth it at those volts

i might have to get one of those e8400s everyones using, they dont require as much volts as this x6800.

I have read much of what you writing here .... and with a few hours lost my system to get 100% estable!!
I think many people going to use nbv very high in relation to mine

you vcore not high that @ 1,5v for 65nm i can run more than that no problems
play with your gtls settings margin for error verry small @ high fsb
you need 1.5 nbv for 500 fbs
n running 4 sticks tougher on the board
    i can run 505fsb with 4 sticks but i need 1,6nbv 1220 5-5-5-15 2.1v

yeah i should be satisfied and i kind of am . but i did expect more than this. i thought at 475/1141 3.8ghz apps games pics etc would be superfast but there not , even though i have 4gb installed with vista its still pretty much the same. a page of photos still has to load its not instant etc same with apps there not that much faster.
if i went over 4ghz ,would that make much of a difference ? ie- loading /running games ,maps , apps ,photos, etc?

I'm at 4Ghz with my E8400, 4 gigs of RAM, and used to have Vista 64 but running XP 64 now. My apps and photos, from my camera, run super quick. My boot times and how fast programs load on startup are amazing compared to what they were.

Is windows reporting that it's seeing all 4 gigs of RAM? What are you RAM timings because that has a lot to do with things as well. Defrag your disks if you haven't already done so.

    3.8 -> 4 ... I highly doubt you'll notice much of a difference.

Does anyone think by dropping my multi from 9 down to 8 it will help get me to 4.Ghz.
Or do you think i need more vtt as ive tried more v-core , more nbv and GTL enabled and disabled and different ram settings and i always get code 4 about 2 mins in. All i have left is to raise the vtt but is there a limit as to how much i should use ??

It's easier to use 9 to get to 4ghz because your FSB is at 445 instead of 500. 500 FSB takes more VTT, RAM is more picky if you don't chose the right divider, and the NB is under more of a load.

As for the VTT limit i've read at numerous places you do not want to exceed 1.4-1.45v.

This pic i got from one of anandtech's articles but i can't remember which one so i'll post it up here:

    45nm

Up the NB to 1.5 or more to test. I have 2x2gb sticks and i have to run mine at 1.50 in the bios to keep them perfectly stable. I can notch the volts down but games tend to stutter and i have random locks up once in a while so i've left it at 1.5

I'm running 445x9 atm and 2x2gb sticks. I hear double density modules are always tRD+1.

    you gotta find the sweetspot
run everest n spi to see what is best
cmmon man crank it up to 505fsb n see
    even 455fsb is ok
your cpu can do 4.0 no sweat
makes no sense to get a e8400 over your cpu bot really an upgrade

Im curious as i get stuttering at times when gaming tho i have good fps so is this linked ?? Would i still pass occt if my nb volt was low as its set at 1.4 now and passes occt 2h test.

I haven't tried running 400FSB to see if my sticks will do tRD 6. I'm doing CL5 atm at 445 with no problem. My everest scores are pretty good but not mind blowing. I think there is still more work on my end to find a good spot for these. I know that Raja, from anandtech, who reviewed the DFI board said that the new bios options let you play with the skew rates and it makes a world of difference. I wanna get my hands on that bios already =p

I had Orthos sometimes fail after 6-8hrs of testing so i can't say that 2hrs is enough in OCCT since i haven't run that app much. I had major stuttering in Vista 64 bit that nothing fixed for some odd reason. I went through diff driver versions, mouse drivers, usb polling speeds, defrags, and a ton of other things to try and figure it out and nothing worked. I finally said screw vista and went XP 64 bit and i have ZERO stuttering period. I did have to up my NB a notch but that's about it.

I can't say for sure that Vista was my problem but going directly to a new OS and my games are SILKY smooth now with my 9800GX2 and deathadder... i'll stick with xp

man i just lost my oc and had to reset cmos again! than god (or atleast dfi) for cmos reloaded ! what a life saver that program is !

    i just wanted to reduce trc ,its at 53 . my timings are 5 5 5 15 trc53 .
with my oc as seen in my sig , with 4x1gb, should i be trying to reduce trc to say 30? 53 seems abit loose , but im not sure since having 4 gb changes everything. anyone with 4gb have theres lower than that?

*i was just reading that the formula for trc is -trc=tras+trp so for me it would be 15(tras)+(trp)5=(trc)20 . but ive tried 30 trc and it just crashes. any ideas as to how could i set my mem timings? im following the formulas but they havnt been very succesful. i think my timings are the reason my system is still running slow .
