Yes, go into Device Manager and click update drivers, they'll overwrite but you'll be prompted to restart the PC. Overwriting won't do any harm.

As for next format, no need for a fresh install...just have your Floppy or USB drives equiped with the new drivers for a future fresh install.

Yes, by using nlite..it allows for slipstreaming of drivers.

I can enable to options as well in Manager 7.8, but when I close that window and open it back up... I get the two unchecked boxes again.

Is this what Manager 8.0 fixes? Is that what you meant by your post? Sorry, I a bit slow.

Ok, "Enable write caching on the disk" WORKS NOW YAH! Now, why I don have the second Advanced performance option? I only have one drive in my system 25GB sliced. Just used the Enabled AHCI after instlling Xp method.

I Enabled AHCI in the BIOS and am running my drive on a non-RAID setup.

Works great, getting higher transfers across the board.

Obvious question but I will ask anyway, after changing from IDE to AHCI I have lost access to my one IDE DVD Burner on the J-micron controller, this is normal?

Not a big deal I don't use the drive anyway but would like some confirmation.

    Thanks

This seems to only be an option in XP64 / server2003 / Vista OS'es only. The PC's in my house that use XP home DO NOT offer this option for whatever reason.

Hey, the F6 drivers that are required when installing XP and Vista with RAID are not working. Appearntly they are 32-bit only. I tried on Server 2008 x64 and it just said "Windows was unable to install the drivers, please contact your vendor for an updated version". It was not until I tried using them on XP x64 that I discovered the problem. It actually said that they were 32-bit and not compatible with 64-bit windows.

Anybody have a copy of the x64 F6 drivers? If not, will the older intel ones work, the 7.8?

I could do the write back option on previous version to. (P5B-DL mobo set to AHCI and using Vista)
I lost that ability when I installed Intel Matrix manager.
So with no Intel matrix write back OK, with Intel Matrix option was grayed out.

I did however notice that particular system sometimes bogged down using the old driver and AHCI setting in bios. No more with this baby.
    Thanks!

I had the same issue...there may be x64 on station-drivers now, i'm sure closer to P45 release time they'll have x64 support.

I can NOT get the "F6" drivers to load under Vista64. I have it on my USB thumb drive, windows detects it, shows ICH9R RAID driver, I select it, and then a window pops up and says Windows can not install or reconize your hardware. Are these drivers not for Vista64???? If not, where the hell can I download them at.

That is very strange, they are working for me in XP x64 as well as Server 2008 x64 (same kernel as Vista SP1 x64).
