i hope a newer bios may make things easier.
    i didn't pay £166 to overclock a dual core!

the asus p5k-e wifi for £85 could do it as well, plus giving a lot of extras

Someone over at my forums said that their board shows as a UT now, so might be better not to flash until I find out the details, although, I suppose you could always flash back if needed

there seems to be a review about this board on anandtech: http://anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx...&cp=2#comments

is this board really "inferior" to the rampage in DDR2 performance, or it is mostlikely the BIOS should be worked out?

It's an alpha BIOS. As most users will not have any idea what those entries adjust along with the fact that a couple of the them have to be set using hex code most will not be missing much by not having them.

I have a 9800GX2 and have ran Vista 64 bit without issues such as you've described. Have you tried a fresh install of vista 64 since the issue started happening? What about making sure both floppy drive connectors are connected to your mainboard for extra power? Are both of your power leads (2) connected to the top of the card as well? Have you also tried to swap slots the card sits in? Did you check to make sure the green LED on the back side of the card is lit confirming the 2 power connectors are right?

I did have an odd FPS issue that would come up out of nowhere, usually 1-2 days, and every game i played was -30fps from what it was previously and the screen would turn to utter chop. System restore back to original install and same . I'd create a restore right after i verified my frames were silky smooth too. I went to XP 64 bit and haven't looked back and everything runs better =) I'm pulling 91FPS in COD4 @ 2560x1600 on my Samsung 30". S i L k Y!

I had that 30 fps issue on my MF. I had to reinstall directx to fix it.

With a clean install it does the same thing, It locks at boot up if the nvidia drivers are installed. When the drivers are not installed vista x64 boots fine. I'm only using one graphics card (so I'm not using the extra 5 pin connectors) and yes it's plugged in correctly. The system won't even post if the 8pin and 6pin connectors are not connected.

The bitter aspect is that boards from ASUS such as the Rampage Formula are in direct competition to DFI's offering in this segment and can run ultra high FSB speeds and lower tRD levels with relative ease."
    nah dude..
anandtech lately.. their clocking is really bad

    look at that 500fsb 1200mhz CL5 clocks

i can do it with latencies less than 50..
they left everything at auto.. thats y...

hmm they even change their stand on cpu vdroop ..
last time they said to disable it for 45nm's

    their trd setting too lax..

    trd 7
    7-5/(6/5)>2.75(6/5)
    42/6 - 25/6>13.75/6
    so its doable ..
just need more vcmh and vdimm..

Is there anyway to read SB temps? My Enzotech SB HS is cool to the touch but it would be nice to see an actual temp. Also, is there any software that will control the other fans attatched to the MB? We have control over the rear case, CPU, and NB fan but there are two others that i'd like to have control over as well.

    1:1 500fsb CL4 TRD 7..

it suddenly didnt work and was causing so many failures
    heck even cant boot

    tried 3 different sticks..
    Team Xtreem PC2-6400 CL3's
    Team Xtreem PC2-8500 CL5's
    OCZ Flex PC2-8500 CL5's

even at 2.4vdimm also no effect

all of this had no probs with the maximus running at 1000mhz CL4 at 4.5ghz!!

it start with some boot manager issue on boot from restart
then it had trouble entering windows
then i reran windows mem diagnostic tool.
    it failed in 9%
all of the sticks. from 1 stick to 4 stick config since i have 2 pairs of each with the same batch serials
so had to back it down to 1000mhz 5-5-5-8 TRD 8 rest same as the template 1.5vNB, set 2.00v dimm.
passed 10 passes for Team Xtreem PC2-6400 CL3
2.03vdimm for ther other 2 at 5 passes..

trying to figure out what happened.. it all started after sleep mode last night i booted up.. restarted and just loaded one of the profile i had for 500fsb saved..

till now cant get CL4 to work ..
You basically say Raja is a hopeless overclocker then you admit you can not do the clocks you say you can....which is it?

You know the test suit they run over at Anandtech is brutal, you guys living on the ragged edge would never be able to run all the benches and stability tests they do...plus remember they are not catering for on the edge people, they show what the board can do that is 100% stable

I hope you were not running 2.4V into your flex modules as you just broke your warranty
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?
    Have a look over here

oops didnt mean to touch a offend anyone .. hmm maybe should have worded properly.. was kindda in fit with the physx card when i wrote that.. sorry to both of ya
but i was just refering to that dfi x48 review
just the ram part i find it unfair..
at least with the DFI p35 they went right to the sub timings.. settings etc.

anyways just enabled the vdroop since they change their stance on that.

cause this mobo rocks for rams as far as i concern.
yeah i know those guys run brutal test like for 3 days etc..non stop

anyways this is my stable 24/7 for 3dmark06 which i think is awesome

the 2nd problem for the cmos corruption was because of the 9800gx2 and a azuntech xi-fi card..
realised that now only after i tried a physx card...

redid it the whole day so anytime i use the second pcie for 9800gx2
and the last pci slot for physx or the azuentech ..
    i get cmos corruption..

problem was solved by moving back the 9800gx2 to the first pcie

yeah everytime i clear cmos or if it resets it self i loose my azun prelude card driver and sound controller ! some may see , big deal just reinstall the driver and plug and play will find the controller , no way hozay !! windows doesnt plug and play , the driver doesnt install, its a massive headache.
so now i just uninstall it before overclocking then install it after wards. its the only way .amazing sound card though .
just curious did u have that issue with it?

I was playing around last night trying to get my board to do 8x500 and all i kept getting was a nasty beep and C1 post code. I couldn't get it to go away for the life of me.

    What kind of beep?

Try with one stick of RAM.

Also, do a battery out CMOS clear, it can often fix problems like that
