If it's making deadline very short a VM could be of help. Otherwise it's better sticking to two console's.

What I'm finding is that my folding rig can't make the preferred deadline running dual SMP (under 32-bit xp prof) when both WUs are 3xxx series projects. They are just too intensive.

And now that Stanford has "run out" of 2653 work...I think I'm going to just run a single SMP instance for now

Maybe it's time to get this 64-bit linux folding CD up and running...

I was just reading on another forum that they extended the preferred deadlines on several of the 3xxx series projects you might want to check to see if the wu's you are getting are some of them with the new extended preferred deadlines. But also setting up a Linux VMware dual Linux clients with SMP folding clients would increase the performance over the windows smp clients even at 3ghz speed my Quad cranks out little over 4.1k average ppd.

Geez they did something to the preferred deadlines I just noticed. 24 hours from download is the preferred deadline on this WU! It takes my CPU just under 24 hours to do it too, I didn't realize that I'm barely making preferred deadlines now. That sucks. It used to be preferred 2 days and final 3 days.

No wonder some were commenting about missing preferred deadlines now. I guess it is a good thing I'm not running a dual core (even though I still need to RMA my phenom, just haven't gotten to it yet...)

fold2 is down right now as my bro is gonna borrow the board, he's having issues and is trying to narrow down the problem. fold1 isn't hung, it says that a lot but I don't know why fold3 and fold5 are on WCG..

Yes, some. Not getting as tasty of SMP units right now, but that's OK.

If that was your SMP cruncher you might want to check to see if it had a bunch of EUE units because that would happen.

im gonna go ahead and vote myself in for an ep1c milestone. you see, i just did the dishes. Among being the greatest milestones of my life, i proved and disproved many theories. for instance, the sink is in fact stainless steel, however what was growing in it was hardly intelligent life. it took me almost three hours for me just to teach it it's name, therefore shan't be considered anything above a mac user. i would like to dedicate this important moment in history to black angus beef, which without i would never have needed a solid platform on which to place the fine bovine (unrelatedly named karl) for the utmost in precision beef slicage. id also like to thank the mormons, if it wasn't for them i;d have sent the cutco door to door salesmen on his way, but since he was the first non elder to knock on my door, i bought the knives in spite. Lastly i;d like to thank dixie utensils, though they always come second to metal cutleries, they made a huge sacrifice for the cause. lay waste are several knives two forks, and probly 20 or so plates. may they rest well, havening been killed in action before being able to serve their purpose.

Dang sc00p, you're making me want to remove the IHS on one of mine now. Under heavy stress I get up to 10C difference in cores, but then again I need to lap my TRUE as well. Finals will be over in 3 weeks then I 'll have plenty of time to work on these little projects

Sparky won a again Actually GT-top needs a little spacer between base and top with that mcw60-base (I made it chemical resistant 3mm thick sheet of PUR). It has longer pins inside you know And Gpu has a much better contact area with GT-base (in theory )
Removal was in fact much easier than racalled since 6420. Rubber and solder were somewhat softer at q6600 than on 6420. Used a little pencil-type of gas torch... flame on it needed to be only at half of the maximum. Keeping chip on the press with all the blades wounding from aside to through rubber... IHS comes off quite easily. Used a flat screwdriver as a lever from corner of the IHS while heating aswell. Only very faint force can be applyed otherwise cores could poop off.
BTW: heated that already removed IHS and clocked... around 30-40 secs should be enough for burn. It took me 38 secs, solder fransformes in blip of an eye to almost liquid form.

I'm afraid that that there's something gone slightly wrong. Cannot confirm it until I overhaul the system again But if you know structure of my cube... it's not going to happen very soon. IIHC is on and it's HTPC too.

Won't post anything about temps yet then.

Let's just say temps are not what they should/I expect. Could be numerous reasons for that...

I recently got the rest of my parts so those 2 Q6600s I picked up at Fry's a while back should be coming online soon. I've only had time to plug in one of them so far and it's VID is 1.325, but it does 3.0Ghz without too much trouble so I guess I can't really complain. Both are from the exact same batch so I assume the other's performance will be similar.
