Well, This is the first time I am seeing anything like this. After more than 2 hours of priming, I got a system freeze. No errors in prime, no BSOD, just hard freeze. Increasing VTT only made it worse. So I guess high VTT might have to do something with the system freezes. For example when running my QX9650 @ 445 FSB 1:2 and @ 1.28 VTT it kinds froze after almost 3 hours of priming. Increasing VTT to 1.34 nd the rest of the BIOS settings same, I got a hard freeze after 1 and half hours of priming. This might not mean anything, but just wanted to throw it out there.

I am now trying 0512 BIOS after reading that it solved the problem here for somebody(Can't remember who). I hope this works(been priming for about an hour now). Here are my settings:

QDR -1780(445 FSB) "unliked" 1:2 with RAM
    vcore-1.375 with LLC(1.344 after vdroop)
    vtt-1.28
    RAM-2.04
    spp-1.44
    mcp-1.55

Everything else on auto. I am getting so frustrated with this board after spending so many sleepless nights. Off the topic, does anybody know when the blackops is gonna be released. Might have to sell my P5N-T rig to my co-worker and get a blackops

After a month of good duty my SIIE gave up
Good old CPU-INIT error on the lcd and nothing that can bring him back to life.

Finally appear to have got my system stable!! I have been very impressed with the OC potential of the memory, which runs effortlessly when on Sync setting and passes Memtest at 1900MHz using 8-7-7-7 2T at standard voltage! However I can't seem to get the CPU stable at 1900MHz so I have set FSB at 462.5, with 8.5 Multiplier = 3931MHz. Using bios 0512 and memory on Sync. Have just updated bios to 0601 and so far everything looks stable. I have noticed that Everest shows a better memory performance in 0601 and double the L2 cache performance of 0512!!

Tyke what did you end up doing with the P1/P2 settings for that? Also, what are you getting for SuperPi 1M?

I have got some good news and bad news. The good news is that the system freezes went away with 0512 afteralmost 12 hours of priming. The bad news is that one of my cores failed prime after about 2.5 hours of priming. Playing around with GTL for that core now.

#Tyke good to hear. I am desparate, both my OCZ kits make errors in memtest at stock CPU and FSB speed (MEM at 1333). In desperation (hoping to the last the motherboard is not faulty) I just ordered a TWIN3X4096-1600C7DHX G kit (I guess the same as you have). I have shortly tested a 2x1GB kit of these Corsair in my rig and it passed memtest overnight so I have hope left.

#Justifire very sad to hear. I just don't hope you killed your QX9650 with 1.6 VTT instead of the motherboard (I suppose you have read the article at Anandtech: http://www.anandtech.com/weblog/showpost.aspx?i=428).

#tekjunkie could you please put your system specs in your sig?

I would watch pushing your VTT to high. As above stated going over 1.5v took out there QX9650. I would hate to see anyone TANK a QX9650 CPU L I N K

This is a QUOTE from AnandTech.com on VTT setting on the S2E

CPU VTT Voltage - [Auto, 1.20 ~ 2.46 in 0.02 steps] VTT is the termination voltage for data lines used to interface the MCH with the CPU die(s) via the Front Side Bus. Higher values can provide additional FSB overclocking margin, especially with 45nm dual-core processors and quad-cores CPUs in general. We have never found any additional gains to be had above 1.36 when using air- or water-cooling. Setting Auto should default to 1.10V for 45nm CPUs and 1.20V for 65nm CPUs. Knowing this, there appears to be a dead band between 1.10V and 1.20V where intermediate values cannot be selected - we are working with ASUS engineering to get this corrected.

Let me know if you have any success playing around with GTL values - I haven't got a clue how to start. Whenever I get a failure in Prime95 it is always the same core that gives up. I even though at one point of disabling the core, and running a tri-core system!!!

Im freaking out about the 1.6 VTT I've been running at it 24/7 for about 2 weeks... Im going to try to back it down after work. I did some P95 testing and I keep loosing core 4 after 2.5 hours, the rest of the cores went about 12 hours before I stopped the test. I might have to feed the Vcore a little bit more. I think im at 1.46 right now. Currently at 1800 FSB with P1/P2 on Auto. If I have them enabled I get the random restarts while gaming.

Has anyone determined what P1 and P2 really do anyway?

According to the S2E article @ AT, the quads require the GTLs to be raised up if prime fails, but not by much. If I go over 36mV, windows does not even boot. So, I guess +14 or +23 would get the job done. Having said I am having no luck whatsoever. After changing GTL to +14, I had a system freeze after about 1.5 hours of priming with 0512(I thought the system freeze went away with 0512 ). Now I am thinking it might be my memory, hence I am RMAing my OCZ and I am currently testing with the GSkills. This stick does not like to run @ 1T even @ 1600, no matter how much SPP voltage I pump.I am getting a ton of errors in memtest test#5. I am having no luck whatsoever with the memories.

When tring to update bios from 0511 to 0512 or 0601 using EZ Flash or AwardBIOS Flash Utility. I get this error message "ROM ID in the file is incompatible with exsiting BIOS!" WTFudge does that mean and how can I fix it? I am using the same USB Drive I used to update to 0511.

This stick does not like to run @ 1T even @ 1600, no matter how much SPP voltage I pump.I am getting a ton of errors in memtest test#5. I am having no luck whatsoever with the memories.
#tekjunkie thanks for changing your sig
I have tested two kits of the same memory without any luck (I will also try some Corsair 2x2GB 1600 7-7-7-20 roughly Wednesday). I started a thread at OCZ forum, maybe other OCZ 2x2GB 1600EB (OCZ3P1600EB4GK) users can benefit from the help I get there: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...252#post266252.

Hey guys, I just get mine 2 days ago, 100% stable @ stock and no corruption with bios 511 (already installed windows 5 times).

But i'm wondering if I should get bios 0512 or 0601 before getting started?

I have plenty of issues running my RAM at stock settings (CellShocks @ 1800 8-7-6-21 2T).
Sure I can pass memtest86+ for multiple hours; but when I load windows, play games and start actually using my PC, I get lockups. The system will freeze at peak activity with combined stress on CPU/RAM and HDD.
Going from 1T to 2T helped a lot and made the lockups much less frequent. Basically I can now prime for 8+hours with no freezing. But if I run Crysis benchmark tool with hundreds of run (2 loops each), I will end up with a lockup [99% of the time when the level is being loaded].

If I disable P1/P2, everything is fine. So yeah it is really a matter of getting the ram work @1800 with certified timings and P1/P2 enabled.

You need to flash from a dos floppy or usb drive using awdflash.

Thanks for the quick answer but if you read my post I have tried both? All though I don't have a floppy drive installed nor do I want one, the usb drive should work.

Something got messed up. Try again using award flash.

I still have yet to successfully make a usb flash drive bootable (either I'm an idiot, or my drive doesn't support it or something).....so, what I've been doing is booting off the motherboard cd to DOS (option 7 IIRC), then executing award flash off the usb drive that has it and the BIOS file on it. Good luck.

@Tyke, could you please find out the revision of your board. The random lockups that I was having was because of P1/P2 enabled. I set it to Auto and the lockups go away and you said you are not having any issues with P1/P2 enabled. P1/P2 enabled @445 FSB requires a lot of spp voltage and/or a lot of vdimm. You also said that your OCZ EB could do 1900 with 1.9. Is this with P1/P2 or without.

No problem. I finally figured out that enabling P1/P2 was the cause of all the lockups that I was having.Disabling it for now(Hopefully the future BIOS will fix), but, I lost $50 S&H while RMAing the OCZ which might have been good.I had to overnight em as my RMA time ends tomorrow.

    Thanks jcool and Tyke.

I've tried to use the HP format utility, but I think I checked the "use internal MS-DOS system files" box instead of a specific folder....and that wasn't working....I never saw any files on the drive afterward....so I gave up.

I'll download the system files from the link on the linked page and try again tonight.

    Thanks again.

Anyone get theirs running prime stable without freezing yet?
