boot and ready to go to BIOS. Wait, what, pop-fzzzt Oh **** look down to see and unwelcome glow and a few small sparks WTFDid almost the same thing a few builds ago, in fact it was my 1st DFI board, the "Expert", Tagan 550 Watt PSU in single rail (Turbo) mode- 55 amps continuous.
In my haste to get everything up and running I had attached the Floppy power connector out of alignment, which had connected the 12V rail to ground, I yanked out the power cable quick smart, but still 4" of wires were totally fused together, cut them off attached a new connector using yea old faithful PVC tape, everything worked fine.![]()
Ran all last weekend off Brother Esau's 416 BIOS template, without a glitch, idle temps at 35 load 47, most stressful thing it's done is AVI conversion along with multiple day to day tasks.
Tuesday made one change, I upped the multiplier to 14.5 which is giving me a clock speed of 2.9GHZ, still going strong, temps have gone up by 2 degrees idle, load no change.![]()

Yes, it was up and rolling after I cleaned up the carnage in the attic over the DVD. Even while these little attempt to convert a 12V wire into a glowing ember the mobo was booting in the great room as nothing was wrong with a fire raging in the attic. Turns out I did exactly what Illogical is talking about, I though I had just skinned a wire but the scorch on the Vantec fan controller between the two grounds is evident of a different crime. Current through the contacts, that skinny wire and the controllers circuit board was likely only a 20 or so AMPs so the PSU just kept feeding it and not seeing it as a short. Nothing worse than having $1000 worth of equipment at the mercy of one stupid mistake. Looking for another fan controller hopefully with a better power connector that I don't have to try and plug in blind.

Now if you Gentleman with Phenom CPU's will transfer your act over to the Phenom thread that you all wanted we can get the Party started over there where it belongs. All you fellas with Dual Core CPU's do not hesitate to come over to the new thread every one is welcomed just please remember Phenom Overclocking is much much different then Dual core so we will still help if you need it that is but just remember it is a Phenom thread and there is much Debugging to do on this thing and the threads intent is a Phenom Data Base
