Hmm...I'd say in the PC world, change is always better. Newer=faster=better.

Maybe not in the real world change isn't always better (hence my conservatism) but when talking about PC's it is.

Support for Windows XP without a service pack (RTM) ended on September 30, 2004[48] and support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 and 1a ended on October 10, 2006.[49][50]

Mainstream support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 will end on April 14, 2009, four years after its general availability.[51] As per Microsoft's posted timetable, the company will stop general licensing of Windows XP to OEMs and terminate retail sales of the operating system on June 30, 2008, 17 months after the release of Windows Vista.[52][53] However, an exception was announced on April 3, 2008, for OEMs installing to subnotebooks or UMPCs either until June 30, 2010, or one year after the availability of the next client version of Windows, code-named Windows 7 — whichever date comes later.[54][55][56]

On April 14, 2009, Windows XP will begin its "Extended Support" period that will last for 5 years until April 8, 2014.[57]

I don't understand why you would declare now in spring 08, that there will be no more Service packs, considering patches and updates will continue to roll out for at least another year or more. Service packs are collections of these updates.

What, You wanna believe there will be a SP4 for XP? fine, Your not thinking This is MICROSOFT!!! (Muahaha, This is Sparta). Anyways. They will either push people to vista or Windows 7. The only known OS that ever got a SP4 was Windows 2000. Hell, Windows Server 2003 has a better chance of getting a SP3 before XP gets another Service Pack. Why is everyone's logic and common sense clouded lately?

PS. Windows NT has gotten upto Service Pack 6, in a way.

I ended up downloading via torrent and it took all of 5 minutes at speeds close to 1mb/s.

Use RDP all the time and noticed that myself.

Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

How do you figure? It IS released. Just not available from microsoft's site yet. If Major Geeks was violating law they would not have it available on their site.

Sure, we should have just stayed in the cave.

Change is always better because it means that we are not stuck in the same place forever.

I was so pissed off!!! I installed this late last night and when it was all said and done I was left with the dreaded BSOD:

STOP: c0000139 {Entry Point Not Found} The procedure entry point GdiGetBitmapBitSize could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll.

I could not boot into windows at all, no safe mode and no system restore. However, by googling the solution I found this:

    1. boot from a Windows CD and go for the repair option.
    2. Copy gdi32.dll from c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\gdi32.dll to c:\windows\system32\gdi32.dll.

It worked like a charm, but I was so close to having to reformat. Why does this happen to only some people, anyone know?
