Does anybody know if the rampage formula uses a 6-layer or 8-layer PCB?

On my first overclock attempt i was able to boot @ 500x7 with trc @ 5 and make it into windows so then i tried for 4ghz and had to reset the cmos.

Since then i haven't been able to hit trc=5 at any fsb nor have i been able to hit 500fsb at any trc.

I was really suprised it booted because my memory has never been able to run 1000mhz but it did on that first magic overclock.

I wish i could have it back.

I guess alot of people do not own this board as info on it is slim to none, anyone using the new 308 bios? If so what changes? Also I want to set my overclock manually but can not see cpu clock speed in bios.

Right now i am only running 400fsb 1:1 memory and i am waiting on some 1ghz memory to come in.

I noticed that even at 400fsb leaving the nb voltage on auto put it all the way up at 1.61 while the default (from what i can tell on msg boards) is around 1.3. Well i set it to 1.3 and everything is still just as stable.

Just a heads up cause it dropped my nb temps quite a bit.

    I found back my cam

So yes, cooling options are the same than for the Maximus X38 SE.
Here is a dirty Belgian board with hpdc watercooling (except lpdc EK-8800gtx block) ready to O/C:

I like it simply due to the fact it gives me a stable 3.8GHz overclock for my Q9450 but I never tried to overclock with the original 0219 bios...

I would like a new "official" bios though as this 0308 bios comes directly from one of their R&D guy and was never available as a direct download from Asus apparently.

Ordered yesterday and have a few Q's:

    X48 Rampage Formula
    X3350
    4gb's Geil Evo
    4x 250gb WD RE
    1Tb Seagate
    Tagan 700W PSU
    8800gt XFX
    LianLi V1200Bplus.. etc

This is a build for one of my clients..and is a goody for sure. *Is anyone here using RAID w/ the Rampage, currently? Just wondering how the stability of the RAID controller is at higher FSB's.

By the way there is only one thing I don't like about the board design and you notice it directly on the picture:
it's the Audio cable between the Rampage included Supreme FX2 card and the front case headers.

I didn't remove the cable for the picture as the Audio header location (HD/AC97) is undocumented so people still looking for it will know.

Edit/Note: Got to love the sound quality of that Audio card they give with the board though. My Audigy 2 sound card is now in the bin.

Hmmm... might pick one of these up at the weekend to give it a shot - although it'll take me some convincing to keep it over my DFI P35.

Just a couple of things worry me about it - firstly, i notice one guy on this thread had problems with his GX2. I will be using a GX2 in the board, so if it has problems then thats a deal breaker! Can anyone confirm there is a known issue?

Secondly, in terms of chipset cooling, I will probably stick my MCW30 on this. Do all the heatpipes come appart, or will I have to find seperate SB/PWM cooling?
    System Specs:
    Core i7 2600k
    Asus Maximus V Gene
    4x2gb G-Skill Ripjaw 2133mhz
    MSI Radeon R9 290X
    Asus Xonar Essence STX
    2x Crucial M4 256gb RAID 0
    Seagate 7200.12 3TB HDD
    Corsair AX860i.

    Watercooling Specs
EK Supreme HF, XSPC EX360, XSPC EX240, DDC Ultra w/aquacomputer top, Aqualis XT res, Kryographics 290X GPU block

For cooling, check the following thread. It's exactly the same as for the Maximus SE X38 board so luckily we can use all that information:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=162085

You will be able to check in the first post on that thread (near the end of the post) more information about dismounting the original cooling.

There are 2 main parts on the original ROG cooling: mosfets part and N/B to S/B part.
You don't need to remove the mosfets coolers, it's only tied to the other part with a sticker: a simple plate knife used as a lever will remove that easily.
You can see on my motherboard picture above I kept the mosfets ROG coolers.

But the N/B and S/B coolers are soldered together...
In my case I used an old Asus S/B cooler from a P35 board.
A simple Enzotech will work too if you don't have old Asus ones.
Read the linked thread: lots of great info.

your being pretty dramatic don't you think? i'm sure there is a big conspiracy over at OCZ on how they can hide the fact that you can't get your memory to overclock 100MHz over stock on the Rampage...please

there's no chance you are just not able to clock that kit of memory on this board...is there?
i don't quote in my signature, but best WR ever...

Ahh.. but sometimes it was a match made in heaven. Remember the DFI LP UT nF4 Ultra-D with OCZ Gold Series RAM, that used Winbond BH-5 chips?

One thing I did before installing the Q9450 in this board was to test the max FSB with a C2D E6600 processor.
It could post up to 513FB at 1:1 with my G.Skill and the Rampage.

Thanks for the link. It looks like the MCW30 will fit both the NB and SB, and I happen to have 2 sat here doing nothing. I know its not really needed to cool the SB, but seeing as I have the blocks I may as well!

you guy's think i should watercool the n/b & s/b cause if that's the case then i'll order up parts as i'd want to remove the stock coolers before start up before the glue hardins with the heat & who's got the best water block for that ?

Watercooling the NB is all you need, the SB does not need it. A passive Thermalright HR-05 IFX would probably be overkill.
