does anyone know how low should set fine delay to? is lower better? and should i have it on "more aggresive" while its unstable or would it be better to have it on auto till its stable?

I asked DFI EU and they told me, that the board will be available tomorrow. If they told me the truth, my board will arrive next week

edit* relaxed settings didnt do anything, so forget that q's . still unstable with occt. im trying what u said and i reduced my memory speed. but i had to reduce fsb to reduce memory speed. how can i reduce memory speed only? it doesnt seem to have a separate setting for reducing memory speed? i overclocked using strap settings and increasing fsb i didnt increase memory manually.
also is occt to strict? seems stable with prime but looses out with occt.
Clock fine delay isn't a performance setting like subtimings. The lower clock fine delay values don't mean loose settings at all - they're just values which need to be tuned to match your memory/mem divider/mem timings optimally. OCCT and prime95 test different things only way for true stability is test every app you use.. you can only say a cpu is OCCT or prime95 stable if you only use one app heh.

Lowering fsb to reduce mem speed is fine in finding clock fine delay values.

They were waiting for parts for the coolers, maybe they came in stock earlier than expected, but the ETA was June

Is there any gain between the LT and the UT or the only difference resumes to more work to take the heat sinks apart on the UT?

no diff between LT and UT only NB/SB/mosfet cooling heatsinks being different

very nice info clunk, read that whole thread

I also saw your review of the board with the geil black dragons (2gbx2). Anything past 3.6Ghz lands me either into code 1 with OCCT or corruption/firefox crashes. Would that be the RAM timings? I have gotten it to boot into windows up to 4.1 though. Any suggestions for 3.9+ stable?

    Hello all,

I am considering buying this board as it seems to be the best clocker and I am using water.

I am not sure however which brand of memory is best for DFI, since I never bought DFI in the past and have been using asus always.

For some reason, I like corsair ram and quality and been think to get 2 kits of 2x2GB 8500C5 dominator for a total of 8GB RAM.

Do you think with 4 sticks will be harder to overclock? Do you agree that corsair will work nice with DFI (and this board) or should I get something else prooven to work better (no experience here).

Finally, I have -NO- clue how to tune/setup this board and I keep reading about GTL and LOTS of settings you guys change and tune and being an asus newb myself (and AMD!) I feel lost.

    In summarry,

Is this the "best" overclocking board for now?

Is corsair a perfect match for this board?

Is a Q6600 or Q9xxx or X3xxx series cpu fully compatible and will overclock best with this board?

Thanks for your input as I trust the experience of members here to decide on my parts

thanks, ive lost my stable overclock now anyway. having 4 sticks its damn hard to get stable past 450/1080 ive tried everything i can. i read that edge of stability , but couldnt understand any of it. it really needs to be translated into english lol.
my pc had a nervous breakdown and has reset its bios. i even lost my raid0 for a while but i have it back now. i guess its back to the drawing board.
if it doesnt work ill have to get rid of those cheap and nasty crucials.

are there any guides around for clock fine delay? like a "clock fine delay for dummies" guide? i really cant get my head around how it works. gtl isnt a problem becuase i just follow clunks chart but clock fine delay is a bit of a mystery for me. i did google it but this thread is the only thing that comes up.

so has it been established that the dfi x48 can clock better than the x38 mobo?? im thinking about buying this one.. but i own the x38 now... any advantage at all?? thanks

I own both and this is what I can say:

X48 can clock same OC with less voltages (nb and vtt) then the X38.

OC is slightly better but I suppose it may be due to other factors.

I'm now running 8GB and 9x420 and I think I'm also "getting there". Previously I would get random BSODs, but after tweaking all I got was one core failing in prime (FATAL ERROR: Final result was xxxxxxx, expected: xxxxxxxxx), the other 3 are still running after 13 hours. I upped the NB voltage to 1.555 from BIOS, set the latencies a bit more loose, and upped the cpu voltage a bit. I'll try tweaking the NB GTL value now if it has any impact.

    Hello everyone!
I just got this board today but im having the same boot problems that i had with my Asus Rampage. Board beeps when i put memory at slots 1-2 (1-2, single 1, single 2, 1-3 or 1-4 etc... all fails to boot C1 error) but if i put the memory at slots 3-4 or just single 3 or 4 computer boots and works great.

Both board i tried this memory were x48 and i tried on other board and memory works great, so i guess its this a x48 non-compatible issue?
Memory is Geil Evo One PC8500 4Gb pack (2x2Gb).

    What can i try?

Send the memory back and get a different brand?

Edit: There is a problem with some OCZ modules and ths DFI X48 and they provide a fix whereby you have to reflash the modules yourself, so maybe this is a similar issue, might be worth contacting Geil to see if they have a similar solution?

closest would be my info at http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4743

Just think of clock fine delay like GTL tuning only difference, is there is no set table to go by like GTL. each memory module, different mem divider, mem clock speed and timings will alter the clock fine delay values. The info at http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4743 just sheds some light on what to do when you hit a memory clock speed/instability ceiling.

Use http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4743 with memtest86+ v2.01 to figure out initially what clock fine delay values will help lessen or eliminate memtest errors.

Weird part is, now i tried QX9650 first time on DFI LT X38, i find it helps stablise FSB too 9x445FSB 32M pi stable so far at CPU VTT 1.28v - no need for crazy CPU VTT volts >1.5-1.6v

I was going through some FAQs in the water cooling forum, and one of them mentioned not WCing the NB. Now maybe it's a few years old and attitudes have changed, but if I'm going to WC the CPU and I want to hit at least 450 FSB (anything higher is just gravy to me), would WCing the NB be a very good idea, not really needed because of the stock NB air cooler, or a certainly can't hurt and looks better idea?
