    9800gx2 bios editor

    any ideas?

Nibitor doesn't like the new cards

I've always been a fan of flashing as opposed to software overclocking so if anybody is having luck flashing these bad boys, I'd appreciate the heads up

    Thanks

So I can confirm that Nibitor 3.9 can infact read the 9800 GX2 bios

unfortunately, NVflash cannot handle the task at hand here's what you get when you use nvflash to flash your GX2:

one core is still at stock and the other is at my overclocked settings.

guys, we gotta figure this out! any ideas???

Do them one card at a time ?

That is take out one card flash, swap with the other card and flash. Might be a pain but should work ?

Ok wait, this is a problem with 1 9800gx2 ?

yeah cuz its 2 seperate cards with 2 seperate different bios versions in one slot, you would have to somehow in the command line when flashing tell which device to flash, problem is both bios have the same device ID.

Yeah you can save and flash both.

    Read in dos.

    nvflash -b -i1 98001.rom
    nvflash -b -i2 98002.rom

    Flash in dos.

    nvflash -4 -5 -6 -i1 98001.rom
    nvflash -4 -5 -6 -i2 98002.rom

    Edit with NiBiTor 3.9.

I have the two files and changed the VID from 1.15v to 1.25v, but I don't think it will do anything.

Version 4.0 is out on mvktech.net BTW.
If anyone hears of a member getting a hold of the EVGA 9800GX2 SSC bios, please holler. I'd like to get it to mvktech for publishing....save the money by modding the stock LOL

Talonman has a SSC incoming. Perhaps he can dump the two bioses and the bridge chip for us?

wait, so you can change the VID using this bios editor and it'll work?

I ask because i've tried changing the voltage settings for my ATI 3870 bios, and it did nothing.

Can anyone confirm that changing the voltage settings via GX2 bios editing actually works, and allows a higher OC?

    thanks!!!

Considering overclocking a GX2 results in no real improvement, does it really matter?

Of course it matters, and there is an improvement in OC'ing the GX2.

If you don't notice the improvement, it's because your CPU is bottlenecking the card.

I notice higher frames in certain games when oc'ing my GX2, such as TF2 everything high 1680x1050.

I mean sure in crysis you wouldn't notice much of an improvement but you would get the same results with almost any rig and that's cuz there is no CPU (may the QX series) that can run crysis at decent frames.

i've tried flashing my 9800gx2 and everything seemed to flash fine but when i ran either gpuz or ntune it still had my stock clocks? and i verified stock clocks by running a couple benches. What could be the problem? I used nibitor 4.0 and nvflash 5.63.
