As for C1E function combined with Special Add it won't work below a certain voltage (when undervolting)... It assumes your cpu already has the minimal amount of vcore to work.

If you unhappy why don't you just use the older bios that suited your needs?
    o i see,thx you

How would we know that we're actually using the best GTL settings?

back to the previous question, how to I extract my bios settings to post here so that you guys may give some opinion on it?

1 more question, I'm thinking of changing my GC cooler to thermalright HR-03. The GC slot ain't seperated quite far, will it be able to fit 2 HR-03?

    He's talking about this chart:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2793

Match up your numbers and set the GTL by this.

Find any of the posts in this thread that have their settings and print them, then copy the text and use code tags on them. You'll need to input the data by hand AFAIK. Just use your printed copy while you're in the BIOS and write down any settings that are different.

EXACTLY what I am wondering. Doing some tests, I am finding that some much lower values than recommended from the charts gets my rig more stable.

I had some strange things happen with GTLs after moving from air cooling to phase.
With Air cooling I had the GTLs at 120, 120, 120 with CPU VTT at 1.603V but when I switched to phase I can't boot into windows with GTLs Enabled...

Hello, this is my first Post here.I´m a German DFI X38 "User" with an Q6600
    bought Pretested @3,6.

O.K. here´s what i have to say about the new Bios and VCore and enabled/disabled Special Add.

For those who want to use C1E and/with special add with the new Bios.

Steps: In Bios Highlight Vcore and then press ENTER ; By scrolling down choose temporarily a voltage over 1,3V ; Do not save&exit , then go to the special add Value because now it is chooseable and with enter & scrolling get the Voltage percentage you need ; Go Back to the vcore and choose with Enter & Scrolling the "Auto" value again. Now you´ll see that the
special add still hold the value......save & exit and that´s it

    Heh, great tip

According to some tests and my own findings, for 45nm chips it's about 55-57% BUT it's my not for 100% sure...

Here's an example using E8200 on DFI P35 LanParty (link)

    4200MHz - 8x525MHz, VTT 1.2V, VCORE 1,45V
GTL - AUTO - restart during OS load
GTL - 85/85/85 - restart during OS load
    GTL - 76/75/76 - SuperPI 32M - error just after start
    GTL - 73/72/73 - SuperPI 32M - error after loop1
    GTL - 70/69/70 - SuperPI 32M - calculation done. Goin' further...

    4304MHz - 8x538MHz, VTT 1.2V, VCORE 1,45V
    GTL - 70/69/70 - SuperPI 32M - error jus after start
    GTL - 69/68/69 - SuperPI 32M - error jus after start
    GTL - 64/63/64 - SuperPI 32M - error after loop8
    GTL - 62/61/62 - SuperPI 32M - error after loop12
    GTL - 60/59/60 - SuperPI 32M - calculation done

I used it just for orientation to have good "start point"... then found stability and gave up OCing

    i used memtest test 5
i set ram aggressive lots of settings i averaged 200 errors then i found settin with -20 errors n tweeked
every cpu n every board n ram react different
dual core cpus are verry forgiving on bad setting not quads

OK, I am really starting to hate this board. I can't seem to overclock it worth a damn. I've tried multiple settings from other users in this thread trying to get it to run @ 3.6 GHz, but most of the time it won't even boot. Best I can do is 3.0 GHz with about 30 minutes of Prime 95 stability before the system locks up and I have to reset.

Can someone look over my settings and try to make some suggestions? Here is all the hardware:

    • Q6600 G0 L743 1.25v
    • 2 x 1GB G.Skill PC2-6400 HZ's
    • HIS HD3870X2
    • Thermaltake ToughPower 850W
    • 4 x 250 GB Seagate 7200.10's in raid 0/5
    • Noctua NH-U12P heatsink
    • Stock heatsinks on NB, SB and VGA
    • BIOS 3-14

And here are the settings I used at 3.0 GHz:

zsamz and Praz, thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can try them out later tonight.

Praz, that first list of settings (2 x 1GB) is not to far off from another list of settigns you posted earlier. I tried those without luck (wouldn't even boot). I think the new ones have one step up on vcore and Setup Shutdown Mode is changed, and about half of the ram timings are different, but that's about it. Where those a copy and paste from another run you did, or specific suggestions for my setup? Just curious - I'll still give them a shot.

lol Actually I think it was the 2 x 2GB settings you just posted. They seem the same.

BTW, why do you suggest having all the PM stuff enabled? Doesn't that effect the stability a little?

When you reach full stability you should turn all to enabled, including vdroop, it won't affect your stability and will make your system run much longer in terms of degradation...

no vdroop control is bad once u break into the 1.5V or higher

but when u enable the gtl settings then u can lowwer the voltages and optimize it (lowing the temps), then letting u oc more, and then back to the start
