    1. The system will consistently RUN at 3Ghz.
    2. As Nico pointed out in his TTR post, it does NOT always like to BOOT to 3Ghz
    3. I can get it to boot to 3Ghz by having CPU voltage set to 112.82%, yielding 1.45V, which is somewhat high, but not ridiculous (I'm on water, although I'd be dubious about doing this on air)
    4. There is definite MISMATCH between AOD, Smart Guardian and Everest on many IMPORTANT readings to tweakers and modders. A variety of voltages are simply inconsistent
    5. One PECULIAR item of note, is that I boot using the BIOS voltage setting of 112.82%, which yields 1.45-1.47 volts in SG and Everest. the MINUTE I start up AOD, the voltage DROPS to 1.38-1.39 in SG and Everest.
    6. AOD definitely has value now with Phenom, but the BIOS and AOD do not agree. Voltages are clearly not the same in both.

All in all, my confidence with the Phenom is starting to grow. Its pretty obvious that more experience and testing is needed to further the development of Firmware for these motherboards, and to tighten up integration between AOD and BIOS.

Its clear to me that there is something that happens at boot time, that is different than run time as it relates to CPU state. My simple mind might drift towards there being some kind of voltage drop during boot up that causes the CPU to not be able to tolerate 3Ghz at bootstrap, causing BSODs. But after about a minute of steady state, the system runs just great and will Prime all night.
Yup...they have to warm up, i found the same

There is new bios on the way from DFI I hear, we just need to wait and see what they managed to fix

Anything higher than x15 multi is a no go though tested until 1.525v in BIOS and it would boot until the windows orb and then BSOD.

I think that i'll try some HTT overclocking a little later just want to "break-in" my phenom right now.
    Thanks Jaivan....

Yep, exactly the same thing I'm seeing. It'll run at 2.8Ghz (14x200) all day long at stock voltage. 14.5 needs around 1.37-1.39, and 15 won't boot consistently at any voltage. Funny thing is, that I can use AOD to turn up the multi to 15, and then Prime on all 4 cores forever. I'd be curious if you experienced the same thing. Booting is one thing, but running is another.

I also tried lots of different combinations of lowering HTT, and raising HT with a lower multi, etc. But the bottom line is an overall CPU clock limitation. No matter what recipe I used to get to 3ghz, the system was unstable and inconsistent. I read Tony's article, and tried lots of those tricks, but no matter what I did, higher clocks were unstable for day to day use on a gaming rig (after a while, I do get sick of playing with my system, and just want to play some games )

There's much more speed here with this 9850 for sure. Just gotta get past the booting issues and initial stability. Because it'll run so fast, I'm willing to bet that there is something that can be done in BIOS to make it more consistent

    Hey guys.....

Got all set up last night, I got the DFI 790fx-m2r with the 9850, and I got 2x2gb Mushkin Redlines DDR2-1000. Havent really messed much with it, but, I tried to slow the ram to 800, and when I do it wont get past the Verifying DMI Data Pool.
When I get home tonight I am gonna flash to the bios Brother Esaurecommends, I think the 1/30/08, not 100% sure right off.

But any ideas why this is happening?????

Please tell me if that 2x2gb Redline PC2-8000 will boot at the 1066 divider please leave at all defaults and go into Dram Config Page and just change the Auto to Manual on the top of the page leave everything else as is at Auto!

Update:.... After Reinstalling Windows Vista 32 Bit without any Issues with it installing with 2x2gb OCZ Reaper HPC (PC2-8500) what so ever I got all of my Updates and SP1 Installed it appears that the TLB Patch associated with Vista SPI update is not applicable in any fashion nor is it applied with the Phenom B3 rev in place

Go to DFI's bios page and change the STATUS_FLAG=A attribute in the URL into STATUS_FLAG=B.
I tried it for the M2RS and there where no beta bioses. Site went down a minute later.

They always have issues with their server when Beta's are posted up on it and it takes a couple of hours or whatever for it to regulate why I do not know

I have not installed it as of yet have allot to do today and don't have time to get involved in all of that right at this moment By all means please some one install this Beta and give us some feed back on it

No M2RS Bios M8 sorry, I checked though for you guys.

Not as of yet and if I may make a suggestion to all of us with this board that wishes to load this 4/15/08 Beta and test? I would say wait until the FTP Site is regulated and functioning normally so there is less chance of the actual file being corrupted from the download process

I second that. Its nothing new though because lots of MB didn't run ntune right either in that era.

Another quick question about Motherboard temps.
I do believe I am running 12/11/07 bios, but, when running stress test
Everest reports motherboard at 75 and climbing, I installed the transpiper outside the case, and the heatpipe is very much warm.

How hot is to hot for the mobo????
