    Talonman,
The error message you are seeing is NOT a BS message.
I often get that message when I'm pushing a new overclock of the CPU or memory that isn't stable.

Seems like the four levels of stability are:
    1. POSTing
    2. Passing Boot Manager
    3. Completely loading OS
    4. Stability testing with OCCT/prime95.

When I've had the boot manager failure, as you have, I might make a tweak to get into the OS, but then the PC would BSOD or not be stable.

About the USB thing, I've had my Formula hang on POST in the initializing USB portion of the process. In my limited experience, that was an issue of too little CPU volts on an extreme overclock (4GHz).

I don't know what you CPU volts are, but you might considering increasing that.

Sure. I think the Boot Manager really is checking a checksum of some files. If your rig is so unstable that a checksum under no load can't be calculated right, you are super-duper unstable.

Following GrnFingrs settings, the only way I can use the "Common Performance Level" @ 7 is if I set my strap to 266 and FSB to 266. I'm going to look around in other threads today about CPL, can someone tell me WHY I am unable to do a mild oc or even run stock settings with my Q9450 & CPL 7? What does the CPL buy me? Thanks in advance.

Back up a sec.... You've got a 2.4 GHz proc running at 3.4 GHz... That's at 41% overclock! Isn't that enough?

You do know that voltage requirements jump up very quickly when you reach those higher speeds? Going from 3400 to 3600 is an additional 5.8% increase in core speed and a much larger increase in votage. I wouldn't stress it.

It's zipped with a rar format. Use winrar to unrar it and in it, you will see a ROM file.

Much better bios for me than 219. Posts faster, detects HD's almost instantly and still overclocks great.

cas 5/1:1. It's the only divider I have tried so far. Got some good Team RAM (3-3-3-8) in hopes of breaking the FSB barrier problems w/the Q9450.

This is the part that defies logic to me...

I just primed mix blend error free for 30 minutes with a 385 FSB frequency...

    CPU voltage - 1.50v
    NB 1.58
    SB 1.57

My system tells me that my memory is operating in Single Channel, non EEC mode. (This is dual channel ram) ?

If I move my FSB to 390, even with taking all my voltages up a tad, or allot, results in my stated problems.

It just dosen't seem right, especially knowing that I was running at 3.8 with less volts.

I am not sure if this is an issue or not, but everest reports my:
    +3.3 is at 3.20v
    +5v Standby is at 4.85v

The reason I want my 3.8GHz back is I am thinking 3.4GHz might actually be a bottleneck to my GX2. My current 3DMark06 score is 17,500. The bous running at 3.8GHz are getting 20K scores. I think my GX2 could actually put the extra MHz to good use.

I have my FRAPS scores on various games taken at 3.4GHz.
If I ever got my 3.8GHz back, I wanted to run FRAPS again to see how much my FPS would increase...

I guess I could stick with 3.4, but 3.8 or 3.9 would be fun on my water cooled rig.

Got Team here too, mine are the Cas 4 Teams .

This is what you should do run Cas 4. Those Teams are rated up to 2.2v right? Run these

    Primary: 4-4-4-4-2-20-3-2

    Secondary: 7-2-5-4-6-4-6

    Tertiary: 12-5-1-5-5

    Give it all 2.2v

I'm currently running 8x475 (Q6600) 1:1 with Cas 4 and settings above. NB at 1.65v CPL 7 (manually set, all pins disabled).

You would have some improvement there, but why not just wait another few months and get a Nehalem cpu and drop the whole north bridge. In those extra few months, DDR3 will probably get a bit faster anyway.

The X remains for about 1 minute, after the desktop appears on every re-boot. (I think the system is trying to resolve a network driver conflict, then gives up.) ??

I don't know if a funky soundcard driver could be hampering my OC'ing efforts?

No problem initializing the USB Controller though...

This is a Vista only problem. I remember reading something about it in another forum.

You got shome shizzle like Nero installed? I've noticed that Vista loads the network connection LAST. On a previous format, I had Nero, Creative, and a bunch of other junk installed. All this stuff would load first on bootup, some of it taking an amazingly long time, before the wireless network would get its turn.
Reformatted and lost the junk. Now the network connects pronto.

Nope, it's a almost clean installation of Vista. Granted the network driver is Vista default one. I should look at the right driver and try that solution (I lived with that problem with my Maximus Formula and my P5K-E for a long time).

Aye it is 100% a Vista issue, but as I remember in the other forum it had something to do with a driver issue, but I cant remember if it was the network issue or change it to the other network port or something to do with the soundcard driver conflict... i really cant remember.

I'm going to look for that issue and post it here if I can find it.
