Did you input exact values as from before? Or is this new testing? Try the settings I just described above for stability testing. If you cant get stability on 1:1 forget about any divider. You oviously need more tweaking then.
Yes, I posted the first time I loaded the 1004 bios, using all default settings.

I had the 5-5-5-18 values entered in under 907, and that is what I am still using under 1004.

    New issue...
If I change my FSB Frequency from 380 to 390, I hang on the LCD poster with 'USBFINAL', and cant go any further...

I bumped mu CPU voltage up 2 notches from 1.475v, but the error remains constant. I returned my voltage to 1.475 due to me not thinking it was a CPU volt issue.

When I first installed my GX2, I did get a USB error in there too..
I don't know how to adjust my USB so it won't hang with a 390FSB.

I had been running a Prescott 3.6GHz for about 4 years I just got tired of waiting for the Q9450 to finally come out after repeated delays and nobody knowing when it would be available. (Newegg still can't keep it in stock) I would have liked to wait for Nehalem and the new bus, but I just couldn't take the Prescott anymore

Try the 2 AUTO settings as I had very pick issues with same Q6600 and E6600, E6750. Auto will fill in those black holes better then the hit or miss and constant restart required to fine a good stable voot point with forced strap and DRAM frequency. You can simply go at it later after you feel you are stable.

2nd, as for the GX2, you may need to use less PCIE overclock, like no more then 105MHz for starters. or up your SB, SB2 to around 1.10~1.114v and 1.5 to 1.55~1.6v (actual) .

    Thanks Nuckin_Futs.

Going to try upping the SB voltages a tad.

What 2 Auto settings are we talking about?

Sorry, not too good at this as you can tell.

UPDATE: I moved the SB Voltage from 1.050 to 1.075, and moved the SB 1.5 voltage from 1.50 to 1.55.

Result: System hung on the LCD poster with 'USBFINAL' messgage. Note: This is the second 'USBFINAL' message that the LCD Poster gets hung on. It displayes right at the beginning, goes through CPU init, RAM init, and such, before returning to the 2nd 'USBFINAL' message, at wich time everything stops.

I then returned my SB 1.5 voltage to 1.50, but took the SB Voltage from 1.075 to 1.100.

Result: The system started to load Vista, but then made a core dump. I had to hit the reset multiple times before the system would let me re-enter the BIOS to change things back. The screen was getting hung at the "Initializing USB Controllers". After the 4th reset, the delete key let me enter the BIOS and set things back to normal.

This is a tuff nutt to crack!

"AUTO" for CPU strap to NB and DRAM Frequency. I got mine stable later on a fixed selection of 333 @ 1153, bUt honestly, I saw no difference if leaving strap to AUTO w/ DRAM @ 1153. I think the forced strap is only benifitial if a given FSB and DRAM frequency can be had on 2 different NB straps. I only get that choice on my DDR1000 for 500FSB, where again mobo is picky to fix to 333 or 400, but on v0602, 400 was fine if manual.

Recently, I do notice that my NB & SB temps drop out of dection (from PC probe and of corse any app) and LED Poster is "blinking" /w time displayed. It seams to keep performing fine. This is on a daily basis and of corse resuming from S4/STHDD. I cannot say for sure it has anything to do w/ this BIOS or the 333 strap cause this is my 2nd new mobo. It never happened on the 1st one with same BETA v0903 and profile.

EDIT: LCD_Poster i"blinking"! I had to restart for an app service, and it hung just after Windows logged off and was or would have restarted. powering off by ATX case button left LCD Poster blinking and a reset only hun again. I had to PWR off PSU and discharge caps for a few secs to reboot . All was fine again and sensors detected in CMOS and in XP secs later. Just wondering if anybody has experienced this weirdness lately.

I am anctious to try the eledged FTP fianl v1004 to see if indeed it reports as a final in flash utility. I suppose the dates will tell as well. But not till I make a bootable Pro Stick Duo to back up and recover from if I dont like it.

Just flashed from 219, not had any chance to see if there are any improvements here to help hit a stable FSB of over 435MHz, regardless of the multiplier.

Just completed a 1hr OCCT run with the slider over to very large without issues, as soon as I increased the FSB to 440MHz it did the usual of locking up approx 2mins into an OCCT run. My 219 BOIS settings are below, any advice would be appreciated.

Would like to see 450 x 8 for 3.6GHz but just cant get my FSB up there.

    I run24/7 at 400MHz x 9 @1066MHz (PL6)

Anybody get the false reading in PC Probe where SB1 Volts jump to 1.58+ & the FSBT reads 0V occasionally?

(Note: the settings below are stable with 8x multiplier, I dropped 1 down to rule out my CPU. I've tried upping the NB to 1.65 & still no joy. Temps arent an issue, I've never seen any core hit 50deg nor my NB go over 36deg)

Thanks Grnfinger, I'll try that right now with my new Q9450 that I'm aiming for 8x450. I'll report back the results then tweak from there for a final goal of 8x475 and 3.8 GHz 24/7

I tried "AUTO" for CPU strap to NB, and DRAM Frequency.

Result: LCD Poster would get hung at USBFINAL.

I set the strap back to 400, and on the DRAM Frequency, I had 2 options:
    DDR2-760MHz, and DDR2-1013MHz.
I selected DDR2-1013 and the LCD Poster would get hung at COUNTMEM.
I set it back to DDR2-760, and took one more run at FSB frequency of 390.

She locked up at "Initializing USB Controllers" displaying on the screen.

After 5 resets, and not being able to get the Delete key working to enter the BIOS, I had to power down and hit the Clear CMOS button.

It loaded the default setting back in and system booted fine...
Loaded my saved profile back in with the 380 FSB, and system booted right up.

    So odd!

    380 FSB=Boot, 390 FSB= failed "Initializing USB Controllers"

Grnfinger, if your list of settings is done in the same order as the list in the BIOS, then it's a bit changed in 0308. Here is the screenies of the whole page and you will notice the extra settings. Even the Ai Clock Twister have 5 settings (Lighter, Light, Moderate, Strong, Stronger). I dunno if it is the same as before so here it is :

Also, here is my Q9450 in all his glory :

thanks kup, i see that asus still has their head up their ass when it comes to gtl control...

the p5e3 premium has much better control compared to this board. i wonder if a cross flash is capable? (yes i know ddr3 vs ddr2 but i distinctly remember someone saying that they did it already to a maximus extreme)

Here's some tests. 10min OCCT stable. It ain't much but it's good enough to play Fuel of War forever and video encode for more than 1/2hr at 26C ambient. I've got a problem when ambient goes above 28C. The temp difference directly affects core temps, where I approach the 80C danger zone. A chilled water system is in the back of my mind...

    Bios 308

Just a quick one guys as its 4 in the morning and the missus is going to kill me. Flashed in Bios 308 no probs, could run at 4ghz with slightly lower CPU Volts but no real difference in Everest. Seems to post and boot faster as Kup mentioned. However, moved Multi to 10.5 and booted 1st time. 4.2Ghz: Ran 3D Mark 24.246!!: , Orthos for 15 min. temps are ok. If I have time tomorrow will post details.

    HEY Talon

Try using your setting for 400 FSB that you had with the old card but try setting the SB at 1.55v and slowly go up from there to see if it will boot. The SB has alot to do with stability for the PCIE slot and USBs when overclocking. Also try to set your PCIE freq to 105mhz.

Also trying bumping your NB volts a bit at a time which also mainly affect the PCIE overclock performance.

    Let me know...

Ok, I misunderstood. I thought he set 4 individual GTL's which is what I am waiting for... Thought I might have missed that in the RF BIOS.... I guess two GTL's would be reasonable nowadays for quadcores

    Proposed Stable Settings @ 400x9

Here's another stable option to try, more realistic for the CPU you have. try items in "BOLD", All values are actual, as reported.

the CPU Configuration can change anything ?

    here is my config

    Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : Auto
    CPU Ratio Setting : 9
    FSB Frequency : 400
FSB Strap to North Bridge : AUTO will use best stable strap if 2 are availablePCI-E Frequency: 100
DRAM Frequency: AUTO will use 1:1 for stability
    DRAM Command Rate : 2T
    DRAM Timing Control: Manual
    CAS# Latency : 5
    RAS# to CAS# Delay : 5
    RAS# Precharge : 5
    RAS# ActivateTime : 15
    RAS# to RAS# Delay : Auto
Row Refresh Cycle Time : Auto
    Write Recovery Time : Auto
Read to Precharge Time : Auto

Read to Write Delay (S/D) : Auto
Write to Read Delay (S) : Auto
Write to Read Delay (D) : Auto
Read to Read Delay (S) : Auto
Read to Read Delay (D) : Auto
Write to Write Delay (S) : Auto
Write to Write Delay (D) : Auto
DRAM Static Read Control: Enabled play w/ AUTO to see any changes, 400FSB is usually low enough to not really see a big difference here
    Ai Clock Twister : LIGHT
    Transaction Booster : DISABLED
    relax level 0

    CPU Voltage : 1.5370v (BIOS)
    CPU PLL Voltage : 1.632v
North Bridge Voltage : 1.55v cause of x2 GPU, & quad, may need up to 1.58v
DRAM Voltage : 2.1v just for stability, less as can be later
    FSB Termination Voltage : 1.488v
    South Bridge Voltage : 1.104v
    Loadline Calibration : Enabled
    CPU GTL Reference : 63x
North Bridge GTL Reference : 67x
    DDR2 Channel A REF Voltage : Auto
    DDR2 Channel B REF Voltage : Auto
DDR2 Controller REF Voltage : Auto
    SB 1.5V Voltage : 1.56~1.60v

    CPU Spread Spectrum : Disabled
    PCIE Spread Spectrum : Disabled

    Under Advanced
    And CPU Configuration:
    CPU Ratio Setting : 9
C1E Suppport : Disabled - I'd enable this if it is stable later
    CPU TM Function : Enabled
Vanderpool Technology : Disabled - try w/ this disabled for now
Execute Disable Bit : Disabled try it like this for now, enable as stable laterMax CPUID Value Limit : Disabled
Let me know if this helps. This is for basic stable 1:1 @ 400x9. A very and practically stock today on this mobo.

EDIT: if not using any legacy USB, try disabling this in BIOS and see if it gets past 2nd pass. My iPod locked up once and hung there too. Just a thought. See "Sources" note above to confirm what I just mentioned earlier on about SB and PCIE.

Flashed to 308 from original 207(??) I think??
While overclocked to 3.6 G-Had done this in the Formula days with no problems..Used ez flash, all ok.
Seems faster in what it does and also way more mem options.Waaay more..

Would be nice to see the GTL options go a little higher than 0.67x. On the occasional times I can get my board to post over 440MHz cores 0&1 drop off the FSB.

Thanks for the suggestions GrnFinger, I'll give them a shot later
