Doesnt GPU-Z just interrogate registers for information- no actual info is stored in the program, except what registers to probe based on a device string?

    Or something...

If the registers are known, then things are getting closer

    That is very true.
GPU-z is also blank when you run it with no vidoe drivers installed.

Do you actually know this for a fact?

I hope that's true, because that would... theoretically mean that we could have GT200 in OUR grimey little paws soon enough

I wonder if I should get my money back for my newly bought 9800gx2 and wait for the 9900 series. Any ideas?

    Yeap.
Nothing by the codename used here on the internet... as usual, the developers know nothing "real" about the card

However... that doesn't mean that it's the one you expect, and doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to get released soon.

The developers for example had the G80 ( 8800GTX to be precise ) nearly 6 months before the reviewers received a sample

unless you paid more than $495 USD per card then I would return them....

are you sure? From what fuad says, gt200 was just taped out, so that means maybe if nvidia was lucky, they could have working samples in a month or two for game developers, but right now? Don't you think that's a little fast? I mean the rv770 taped out months ago but won't be launching until late q2 (though a lot of that is due to gddr5)

its better to not have such info in the file at all so people cant just disassemble/hexedit the binary and bypass the password

I agree with you on this, some things are just better leaving alone for several reasons.

Keep up the great work W1zzard.
