Or you could sand it down with a sander bit, just press it up against the metal. Do not sand at an angle, that would turn the metal's end into a sharp edge. It has worked fine for mine so far.

Just make sure to take your time with it and to touch the edge regularly to make sure it is not sharp. And take some scrap wire and tug it hard against the edges.

    Mods

    Hi Guys
Just a few mods to get you thinking.
(a couple of them have been done before, though).
First the 'usual' PSU mod, and alternative USB location (to save an expansion slot) :

A 4mm plywood 'blanking plate' (with a little 'weatherstrip' surround on the reverse side), if you can't, or don't want to fit a side 120mm fan :

A 'Deflector plate', to channel smoother airflow from the lower drivecage, directly towards the GPU (preventing 'eddy' currents in the PSU area) :

A 'Heatsink support bracket', to stop the Thermalright, (or maybe Tuniq Tower etc.), tearing a CPU sized hole in your m/b ! (O.K. if you ' LanParty ')

    A 1 x FDD & 2 x HDD Drive cage (from scrap case) modded to fit Nine-Hundred,
allowing completely unobstructed airflow from both front 120's :

Centre of Thermalright backplate removed, and hole cut in m/b plate to prevent heat 'build up', reverse of CPU socket :

Showing reverse side of motherboard (CPU socket).

Corresponding hole cut in side panel, and mesh grille added :

If you feel you need a little extra cooling, 'chuck' in a fan, from an old graphics card ! :

(if anyone needs any further details, just drop me a PM).

    Cheers for now

Luckily with this card (Voodoo ?) :
I've got a choice of two.

Going to lift the central label and add a drop of light oil.

    Cheers

Awesome topic people, I came on this website via google, looking for casemodded 900's.
It took like 9 days before I could post something here

Very nice work, I've watched all those 900's, great
Mine is only a few days old, but I got some ideas now.

ok, it's time to do "the thing"
what do you guys recommend for cutting the holes in the MB tray?
(anything but a jigsaw or a dremel... i'm not going to buy it for just this one instance i do own a drill though, if someone says that a hole saw will do the trick)

    Janno-

You can use step-bits, or hole-saws with a drill. I've used both on mine and they drill/cut a nice hole.

Quick little question. I relocated my bottom HD cage to the top, and adding a second fan to the inside (like the GPU middle fan) so I have two fans blowing in as a tunnel into my heatsink's fan and then out the back exhaust fan. My question is, do you guys think the top 200mm fan is robbing airflow from the air tunnel?

My setup got all the fan blowing inside including the 200mm in the midle where i have no HD there's 2 fans like a air tunel the only place the air flow can exit is fron the side panel black mesh & the powersupply & no fan on my cpu heatsink
Cpu Intel Q6600 OC 3.6Ghz 1.5v Fsb 1600 Ram 1100Mhz 39C Load 27C Idle BTW i use the midle air tunel bay to give somes cold air for the north bridge & VGA
