Hello, i did a small oc to 3.6ghz, stock voltage. RealTemp shows 30, 35 degrees idle, core temp and occt 40, 45 idle. Which do you think is accurate, or at least close the to the real temperature. Ambient is about 20~22. Temp in load after 1 hour of occt is 50, 52 by core temp, and 40,45 by realtemp. Also i'm getting a beep from pc speaker, nothing happens, the beep is very random very annoying. Thanks.

well from reading lv coyote it seems most Q chips have temp reading issues with B16. You would think after months it seems they have been working on this bios 16, they something this blunt wouldnt be an issue..hope they put a new one out quick. Im still sittin on 16 because everything seems fine, besides temp inaccuracy.

and good to know that 45nm only does half multi's..wasn't aware of that. Then again I havent been paying much attention to new chips lately.

Cpl Ledanek- I think you have the same batch that I do (Q748). They are among the most difficult to OC from what I've read. I'm stable at 3.8GHz@1.35v, but cant get anywhere near 4GHz at stable. BUT, I'm not willing to go higher than 1.37v to try since I plan to keep this long term.

any links to this? I don't even plan to stay in the 3.6Ghz since there is no need at this time.

not all 45nm processors have half multi's.

my Q chip has temp differential of 9C between each dual core set...my original QX9650 had a stuck DTS sensor which prevented me from getting an idle temp reading...once i pushed it with P95, it would respond but the overclock (and Vcore) had to be high enough to produce the heat.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a n00b who looked, asked around, and collected answers on the question of: Is there a temp change when the Abit IP35 PRO is placed CPU DOWN/ATX or CPU UP/reversed ATX?

Now collecting all my post, see if there is a difference in temperature, at least, maybe forgoing performance issues at this time.

    IP35 PRO inside Stacker 830 SE...inverted ATX..

    32 minutes into it:

    8 hrs on inverted ATX.....

    __________________________________________________ ___

Now, I'll try regular ATX, or as someone says, "right side up."

    2hrs...

    Finally 14 hrs on ATX

So, is there a temp change?

It would be nice..., but it always defaults to 1.8 volts, even if your memory want's more. Most, but not all memory will allow you to boot into bios at 1.8 v, and then you can change the voltage.

For me, the automatic timings would work (not great, but work) with 2 sticks, but would fail totally with 4 sticks - giving me a meaningless error message about a corrupt file or something.

People on this forum aren't generally using the 1.8v memory at stock timings, and the "automatic" settings were likely focused on helping people with stock setups.

My system is much more stable with manually set timings.

Looks like Abit is dumping excess stock of IP35 Pro's to make room for the IP35 Pro XE's: ABIT IP35 Pro $100 + Free Shipping after $70 rebate @ NewEgg *TODAY ONLY* (use coupon code: mb48FS)

Should I get one now @ $100 shipped or wait for the XE's to roll out and possibly get it cheaper
What I'd really like to know is if the Pro's will be able to handle 1600fsb in which case it would be pointless to buy an XE?

Did you perform the bolt mod on the board, as well as replace that peice of plastic they call thermal interface material and replace it with some ceramic based (white) paste?

remember, the System FSB is quad pumped so 1600 mhz should be 400 actual cpu fsb...should be easy!

at least recommend to him to add 40mm or 60mm fan to cool the PWM and NB heatsinks.

Just in case you guys aren't in the habit of checking the deals section you still have a few hours before the ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 $100 after MIR is over.
Sourcing parts for a mildly over clocked abacus.
