Sadly I suspect that the PCB revision makes it ok. Like... this years model of the Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Astra- same **** with a few tweaks and a new price tag.

I wonder if two SLI connectors were left off the 8800GTS 512MB deliberately to help make a "new" card more appealing to the con(ned)sumer

I dont think nVidia cares about anyones little comments, such as the ones you guys are making, they are still king, it doesnt matter what they name their cards, if you want bad performance with AA/AF go ahead and buy ATi, and you can have a mid ranged card, if you want high end, nVidia is king and they sell, $300 for a 9800GTX is made to be put into tri SLi, thats why its so cheap, it was made to replace the 8800gts also bring triple sli.

Sounds to me like nvidia are trying to cover up that GT200 (or whatever is next) has turned out to be a poor chip. No?

You are aware that both ATI/AMD & nVidia (hell even Intel) have a long history of renaming old technology to get better sales or keep it going longer.

Also, G92 will be reflashed with the 55nm processing in July. We can expect some new GeForce 9 cards will be launched with the new 55nm G92, which can lower the core temperature and rise the core clock.

The soon-to arrive GeForce 9600 GSO will be a direct competitor to AMD's unreleased
Radeon HD 3830 graphics card and is alleged to fill the gap between the already existing 9600 GT and the upcoming 9600 GS.
