Gigabyte X48T-DQ6 CPU and memory testing

Received this motherboard from GA about 4 days and here is my testing result for both memory and CPU results

    -------PICTURES OF MOTHERBOARD------

here is the picture of the box

User manual, STAT cables, IDE and floppy cable, and I/O shield

Motherboard itself, blue looks pretty good but personally i like black or white color

    clock-gen ID 9LPRS914EKL

    Two GB LAN chips

    Audio codec ALC889A from RT

8 prots of USB2.0, IEEE1394a, 2 RJ45, Coaxial and optical sound output. no extra output audio card needed

    ------MEMORY CL TESTS------

For a good motherboard, CL6-6-6 should reachs DDR3 1600 1.9v, YES IT PASSED

For a good motherboard, CL7-6-5 should do DDR3 1800 1.9v, Well, it does 4x1M at the time. not bad at all

For a good motherboard, DDR3 2000 1.9v with CL8 should be no problem either. It passed 32M test.

    ------CPU FSB TESTS------

E8400 reaches 534 benchable. not as high as i wish to go, the max i can make it boot is about 545 but won't load into windows

E6400 max out at 510 but only stable at 500, well, it is same as the memory DDR3 2000 i post on top

    E8400 32m max out at about 4.5G

It is a good board, but still a lot of bios bugs need to fix. specially the memory divider it not easy to play with. Also if north bridge goes over +.575, motherboard will not boot up. i am not sure it is just my board or everyone else. For CPU voltage, when vcore set to 1.5v, actual voltage is at 1.47. no vdroop during loading. Thanks to Gigabyte PR for this review.

    Nice review

I am looking at maybe getting one myself but ddr3 version , all depends if I get the 45nm cpu I am after or not, but looks good so far.

It would be interesting to see how these go with Quads.

i tested with Quads but i forget to save the picture.
max for QX9650 is 465 in my case. but this QX9650 is the very new one (and suxx, max 4.4G not even stable on any mobo). Actually the DDR3 1600 and 1800 were using QX9650 400 and 450 FSB

forget to metion, i use intel stock E6400's cooler for all the test....

I was actually hoping it would have played nicer with the quads it sounds like it playes the same with them as the DQ6 x38

Have you flashed to the latest BIOS version Denny? ( it helps a lot on memory overclocking & dividers )

Sexy looking mobo...can we get more pics of the onboard chips?, isin't there two new clock generators on the PCB?...one for memory and one for the NB?

    Sweet looking board !
FSB could have been better i guess. especially because its X48.Is it because its a DDR3 board or something ?

Asking this because my Abit IX38 clocked FSB very nicely.550 on E8400 is easy, max i could do was 580FSB under DICE.

    Could someone shed some light on this ? guess2098 , dinos22...anyone ?

Most QX9650's and QX9770's are FSB limited somewhere between 440MHz and 480MHz FSB on P965/P35/X38/X48/nF790i.
There are some exceptions, finally reaching 500MHz ( stable or not ) but that's the luck of draw effect

For the maximum FSB with E8xxx CPUs, once again, the average X38/X48 FSB overclock is around 540-560MHz, with some exceptions reaching even 600MHz FSB.

As noted several times before, FSB Limit is a CPU + Motherboard combo related.
You can get 10 E8500's and test them on the same ( part not just model ) motherboard, and reach different max FSBs...
Or you can try the same CPU on various motherboards ( even two of the same model ) and reach different FSBs.
