PCGH: Huge HL2 Fakefactory Cinematic Mod 7 gallery

The release of Fakefactory’s Cinematic Mod 7 will be celebrated on PCGH.de in several ways. First of all, we start with a plain picture gallery showing some EP1 and EP2 screenshots:

Later on, we will present comparison screenshots between the original Half-Life 2 and Fake-HDR-enhanced HL2 pimped with Fakefactory’s Mod.

Edit: PCGH.de compares the original Half-Life 2 (without HDR) with the HDR-enhanced version thanks to Fakefactory Cinematic Mod 7. While this is not the real HDR-Rendering, the Bloom effects looks really cool. And the models as well ;-)
Time to reinstall the original Gordon Freeman show!

there is just way too much HDR in that mod, in one shot, Alyx looks like an angel sent from heaven shes glowing so much....but hey, the way they modeled her, shes dang close.

I like the shape of this mod - looks like a really nice, firm set of... umm... bitmaps. As a side note: did anyone notice Alyx too seems always very, how should I say, firm?

I can't download the mod because of bandwidth limits at school, but does the alyx construction thing have hi-res textures of the original model? I don't like the new ones they do. The change her from resistance fighter to resistance whore. :-/

I think they specifically made the mod as an excuse to make Alyx look like that.

well, what about people like me with 32bit windows xp and 1gb of ram. am i able to use this stuff and benefit from the "better" graphics or will it do nothing but crash - because they claim one needs to have a 64bit os and lots of ram...

i just want to make sure before wasting 5gigs of traffic.

I am in the same boat. Only 2GB ram and XP 32bit. I can not understand why you need 4GB ram for this. Hell Crysis does not need 4GB's of ram. I may end up trying this weekend.

HL2 doesn't need insane amounts of sex appeal. I personally liked Alyx the way she looked in-game ... had a certain tomboy-ish charm.

Heck of a job improving the character models, though. Props to their efforts.

Same here, I just couldn't remember her Name, thanks!

Being an old Army guy, I can also tell you that old Alyx didn't truly look interracial (affectionately known as "War Babes/Babies")too me. The new one does. Not just Alyx but I liked that made Eli look more realistic as well.

They also have way too many glitches in Alyx's body, mainly legs and fingers. The gets awful budges in her upper thighs, behind and fingers, sometimes arms. More screw ups from the back, than the well done front.

They could have left her old clothing as well. DON'T need that much skin showing. This also might be too Tombraider-ist with the Pony Tail and mid drift showing LOL!

They really f'ed up Alyx's bottom lip. She was perfect as original Alyx. but obviously, skankier = more attractive.

She looked more 'natural' before, without being uggo, but now she could easily be mistaken for an out of work Romanian street-walker.

yeah, seriously, the original alyx had charme and looked natural - the new one was obviously designed to look like one of these plastic surgery babes
the charm of the other characters has been destroyed as well. i don't know - i don't really like any of the new faces etc... :F
