the spd of many 1066 rated ddr2 modules defaults or includes 800mhz so that's what the memory controller uses. You need to go into bios & manually change the DDR2 Speed (CPU : DDR2) ratios.

    Champion. Thanks for the info.

Has the PL dropped with newer bios to 7 or not?
With 1:1 or 5:6 and fsb of 450?

***NO facts to what I'm saying just speculation***

We haven't seen any beta bios for awhile now. Could it be the same team is busy writing for the x48 board? Just a thought?

    rightfully So! J/k
I'm confused now. Last two times the computer has been unplugged its stored the oc settings and reset my guru settings.. but both times I unplugged it while in hibernation and the clock is constantly wrong.

That should indicate a bad cmos battery.

I'll take it storing the OC setting if it means loosing a clock I wear a watch.

I'm going to try a new battery but still thats pretty weird.. Its gotta be software.

i wouldn't be surprised that abit will come out with an official bios so they can move on to fine tuning the X48 for release....i expect that for the IP35 Pro...i heard the official and possibly the final release for the Pro board is just around the corner.

Will this board work with the 45mn xeons ok? I just can't afford a QX9650 right now, so I was thinking about getting this:

    Intel Xeon UP Quad-core X3350 2.66GHz Processor - 1333MHz FSB - 12MB L2 - 775-pin LGA

It has the multi locked at 8.5, what is the highest stable fsb on these boards? I'm on phase and what to push it alittle bit, just wondering about what I can expect. My Q6600 is at 4.2 right now, I have not even tried to go farther Just set it, it started right up, and have not messed with it any more. Also, which is the magical bios with with the 45mn cpus. Thank you.

I think you will find that the this Board will do very well FSB wise, the limitation will be the CPU even under phase..

Is there a particular reason for a quad as the E8xxx will OC a lot more in terms of CPU speed than the Q. My E8500 is currently at 520x9 (B02 BIOS)but yet to try my QX

Not yet but I am advised that the B02 Bios allows the Unlocked multi which is why the E8500 is only seeing x9 as no .5 multi support in that version. Just need a window to swap them across to really see for myself.

Darthvendor have you checked your cables that they are set right? Maybe the "power on" cables from the case. Sounds really weird that it stalls for a few seconds before powering on.
I change the PSU and solve my boot delay problem .

    Regards

I have my QX9650! Nice one but i have a problem with multiper I can set only x9 and x9.5. Anyone have an idea wich bios will help me to fix it? now im using official 12 from Abit's website.

And please give me direct link to download sugested bios)

I have tried to run on B08 but only x9 mutli is working. On B02(multi is working with 9,10,11, but has no option as 9.5 10.5) i cant even load windows XP on 4300 and 1.45v. On 12 oficial i can run XP but on 4300mhz and 1.42 i have error on 3dmark 2006 in CPU test.
I have returned to 12 oficial. Any ideas plz???

Based on other members, you need 12B02 for the QX to allow Unlock multi but this BIOS does not support .5 so it will be a balance to work through. If ur QX can run good FSBs then x9.5 should be fine under H20.

I was trying this B02 bios and tried to put my QX on 4200 1.44v and even XP didnt start. On final 12 and 4300 i can bench on 1.44v and 4400 on 1.48v but i gues that FBS is a bit to high so thats why i want to use 10x440 or 11X420. I gues that i will change this mainboard to some ASUS with ddr3 or something.

Understand the extra multi allows an easier OC with lower FSB and mem speeds.... I'd try a lower multi and check that the higher FSB is stable.. you could be at a temp threshold which is stopping the QX from being stable

My temps on my WC are verry low. In ilde i have 32 31 32 31 (9.5x417)- and its ilde after 3d mark. In stress i have (in orthos priorioty 9) 54 53 54 52 after 20 minutes at 4400 1.48v. So u can see that temps is not problem. The problem is blocked multiper. Its sad that such a nice board have this issue and ABIT do nothing to fix it!
