    how dare they!!!

regardless, I'm really impressed with the smoothness of gameplay with these cards. I was expecting them to be a little more choppy given that they are 4 gpus and pre-release drivers...

    REALLY IMPRESSED

For me Crysis is running just fine with one 3870X2, but when doing CFX it doesn't work at all.

I get ~30fps with 918/1000MHz clocks. (1920x1200, quality in drivers)
    With two cards ~15fps

    Other games are working ok.
You are as good as your samples are!

I never played Crysis because 30FPS is not fine... its atrocious
games are meant to run ~60 fps. running half that isn't ok

I'm just glad I'm finally gonna get to see this game everybody's been talking about

god dude u never played quake even?

i agree with fugger, gaming pcs are meant for gaming to fully enjoy your hardware when its all put together and setup right(overclocked stable).

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OR maybe NVIDIA "optimisies" their drivers for games (if you take a look into Registry in the NVIDIA VGA - it has 3DMarks AND A LOT of games... )

its no secret nvidia has more money in game developers pockets during the whole stage of most popular games giving them the edge almost every single game that comes out.hence its meant to be played on nvidia.and ati has more buggy driver issues every gen relased always playing catch up.

Railmeat, competition is a lot of fun for us. It is not just looking at numbers.

Getting a score and improving upon it when others are trying to beat you is a lot of motivation to stay at it. Trust me, we enjoy the competition.

As Pedro puts it, it is his favorite game and his scores show his dedication to fine tweaking and persistence to the best frame rates possible. For some 3Dmark is a game.

I agree... I enjoy ocing and benching as much as I do gaming! But in the end, I have to make my purchases based on game performance. After all, I don't have sponsorship and get free stuff (yet)

    competition is competition
whether you're playing games or numbers

LOL 100 points extra in '06

from the review guide it seems the numbers are the same (scaling wise) until you start to increase the resolution and level of detail >> that's where quad SLI shines

but drivers are all over the place it seems. '01 drivers are making CH look terrible and it seems bench quad sli in '06 is useless. Looks like a couple of GTX cards will be more powerful in '06 because of higher OCs they will reach on both Core and RAM

anyone have any info on the REAL 9800gtx release or specs.i remeber the old 7950gx2 days, they were so so.but nothing compared to the 7900gtx when i grabbed that.kinda the same boat here.i feel like the 9800gx2 is a stall.

sorry for off topic-just seems like the whole quad sli thing is still not straight in everything.thought since the 7950gx2 quad sli trials and tribualtions this time (9800gx2)around things would have been bugfree(wishful thinking?)

yup - quad sli is a joke for 05/06 benching

    heres a quick 05 run:

I'm running outta benching steam... the vdroop on this board is killing my CPU overclocks and I'm not willig to put the volts through my proc that it needs to keep its oc...

tht and its a warm day here in So CAL and with these cards on air, my room is getting pretty toasty

I'll try to get some more high res runs and do some 01 benching tomorrow morning when its a bit cooler.

any requests? I'd be happy to oblige

im glad to see sonofander is running water and benching, really helps me out alot in the cpu buying decesion with a new gaming cpu 24\7,very nice work man.i always respected fugger for doing the same in his gaming rigs also.

Ln2\dice is way to hard to make cpu buying\overclocking decesions off of for long term stabilty while overclocking\gaming.

But doesn't it make sense or what ? VGAs are mostly for gamers ... The majority of people who are spending time on their PCs, buys VGAs for games, not for becnhes ... Try comparing the amount of people who o/c them and bench them in 3Ds, and the amount of people who slightly o/c them and enjoy high fraps ... and you' ll see - MASSIVE difference

Poor performance in games is really like a punch to ATi ... In order for the CrossFireX to outburst IN GAMES you need Vista + Catalyst 8.3 (Vista is a "killing" OS ... ... just kidding - Vista is awful ... ) ... And again due to the immature drivers, the maximum performance is not yet achieved I' ll not even talk about XP + Catalyst 8.2, 'cause the gaming performance is really really poor ...

Well nvidia's first attempt at quad SLi had loads of problems so it is no wonder they are ahead of Ati now. I'm happy to give both teams time to improve matters with the driver support, this is not childsplay.

That score for 06 with AA and AF at 1920x1200 is really impressive. No wonder it slaughters games

Yeah guys I have to agree that I currently have 2 3870 x2's and the game play is embarrassing and I find my self trying to make excuses for $900.00 in video cards... When I went over to sonofander's house his experience was absolutely amazing and I was sitting at half the frames per second in every game at 1680X1050 and he is running 1920X1200. Boo ATI I am currently RMAing my whole get up I can't wait to get these things out of my machine!!

heres a couple more quick benches...

    1st 3DM05 @ 1920x1200 w/ 8xAA, 16xAF

and here's a Crysis run w/ AA enabled

during the Crysis run, it stopped dead at one point, giving "0 fps". Other than that glitch, the benchmark ran a steady 60 FPS
there are obviously still some driver problems to iron out, but considering that these are the first set of drivers, I'm not worried. Things can only get better from here

well I'm off to work on my OC. Had this mobo for a day and I have spent 0 time getting my oc optimized... If you think about it, that says great things about this mobo! took me all of five minutes to get 450 fsb/ 1800 ram stable enough for a day of benchmarking. I'm looking forward to getting this thing dialed in - should look alot better when I do

Also, getting these cards on water will help my GPU clocking for sure! anybody got the ins w/ EK or Danger Den??? tell em' to HURRY UP!!!

Wow, very impressive results. How did you manage to get GPU-Z 0.1.7 to recognize the 9800GX2 properly in Vista? Does Quad-SLi have to be enabled or something? Also, how did you manage to get such rounded off overclocking frequencies? (750/1100/1900). In RivaTuner, I can never seem to be able to do this. I have a single 9800GX2 and I'm almost positive it could get up to those speeds as well. Thanks in advance.
