    Kingwin RVT-12025 (Xigmatek HDT-S1283) $24 after $10 rebate

Looks like Kingwin is retailing the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 as their own RVT-12025 . The Xigmatek HDT-S1283 got a great review at FrostyTech and Spawn32 has it listed as one of the top air coolers.

Right now Kingwin has a $10 rebate which brings the price down to $24 plus shipping and handling if you pick it up from NewEgg. If you're not a rebate fan you can pick it up from Directron for $30 plus shipping - no tax.

Been playing with this cooler on a DFI Blood Iron and a E8400. I had a feeling the I wouldn't like the push-ins on the stock cooler so I picked LGA775 Bolt-Thru-Kit with Screws & Springs and it made a big difference on temps. But I had to remove the fan in order to use the new mount. Long story short - the fan now has a ghetto mod since I made a mess of the rubber fan mounts. Here's an OCCT test at 4ghz.

Core Temp topped out @64c and scaled right along with the Speedfan readings. Any way you slice these 45nm chips run hot! BTW - Blood Iron is a nice cheap motherboard and I'm happy with the FSB running to 542 before hitting a wall. Too bad its droops a bit.

remember that because of the base design on that xigmatek cooler, performance varys largely on how the thermal paste is applied onto the CPU, i acheived best performance when doing the line method and it made contact with the heatsink in this manner.

Just wanted to post a pic of my slick electrical tape mod. After I get it in a case, I'm thinking about adding even more to make it extra ghetto!

Nice find! Shipping is about $8 for me. I still recommend a bolt-through mounting solution.

Would you suggest the same thermal grease method for AS5?
