What's crazy is it's probably cheaper to buy an A900 and strip it for parts.

I've seen them for $60 with MIR. The 200 MM fan and two Cages is more than that from Antec...

Well I finally have almost all of my parts and did a full tidy wires job on my 900 this morning. The only thing I have yet to get is a Blu-Ray player, but that should be in the next week or so. (just so you know what the extra 2 wires are for below the optical drive.

My one annoyance with how this turned out is the front panel audio cable. I tried to hide it behind the mobo tray, but where it's located, I just didn't have enough room between the edge of the mobo and the I/O plate.

I have to say this was the longest and most frustrating mod I've done, but I think the results are great.

My casters. I'm on the carpet for now, but hope to remedy that soon.

It looks nice and clean Obitus, I would loose the badges on the top tho (but that is a personal taste).
Also the wheels are a great idea with the 'upside down PSU' but not for me (mine is standing on my desk... the thought alone of it running down... brrrr :P)

Oh another request to all you 900 lovers; I am in search of a original Antec blue-ledded 120mm fan and 1 or 2 of those (5.25") bezels.
So if anyone would consider selling me these... I had 2 other mods in mind this weekend
The complete sets of Will are a bit too much for me (I had more spare parts then I thougth). The only items I need are 1 fan and 2 bezels (perhaps even 1, but that depends how it tuns up).
(Or would you consider selling me these parts, Will? That would mean you would have to disassemble 1 (complete) cage. And the shipment would have to go to the other side of the lake :P).

Aside from the 2 HDD/Fan cages, I have 3 spare 5.25" bezels, and 1 Antec TriCool Blue. So I have the parts, but where are you located... UK? Shipping would cost more than the parts =P

    Silencing The Beast

Hi Guys, this is my first post here. I've been reading this thread for ages and it inspired me when I was putting my build together.

I decided not to use the drive cages, as I didn't like them much. The main thing I wanted was a nice gaming rig that would run quiet when I was surfing etc. So I used a fan controller, a couple of quiet nexus fans and suspended my raptor with elastic.

I mounted the T.R.U.E. 120 in a vertical pull config so that I could keep the fan on the side panel. My 6600 idles at around 35 with the fan on minimum and provided the big boy fan is at about half speed it draws enough air over the raptor to never go above 40 under load. I use rivatuner to keep the 8800gtx under control. Who said this case could never be silenced,(as long as its under the desk of course).

    Anyway enough talk some pictures:-

Mounted the fan without the drive cage.

Took some tin snips to that fan grill.

Managed the spiders web on the back with these.

Used one of the front bezels and cut up an old cd-rom to hide some wires.

    Crucial Ballistix Tracer.

    A couple of cathodes.

Cheers CyberDruid . The only thing that doesn't look quite right is the front of the Zalman fan controller, I might have to make a new front for it although this looks rather nice:-

Its a Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme Fan Controller.

Love the work on your current project, nice music on your youtube vid

Spend 70 bucks for a HDD cage. Spray paint it and smile every time you scratch it.

Well with inspiration from this thread I've decided to mod up my case as well. I'm planning on painting the inside a shiny silver metallic (to reflect my Abit IN9 lights on the MoBo), do some good cable management from pics here, and replace the cabling with UV Blue, and throw in a UV light to boot. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

I'm also updating my cooling and putting Thermalright solutions on the PWM's, CPU, and North and South Bridge chipsets.

It looks to be a fun weekend. Will post when completed.

The ABIT IN9 32X-MAX has LEDs on the back. You can set the pattern in BIOS or all on like in that shot.

Are you powdercoating your own parts? Very nice rig you put together! Do the powdercoated cages really not scratch? I use a magic marker on any scratches I can see after installation I'm kicking myself for getting rid of the oven I replaced in the kitchen. Rebuilding a few motorcycles and would rather powdercoat the parts. The wife won't let me use her new one lol.

With powdercoat, the cages do not scratch. They are very smooth and have a durable baked-on finish. I have taken this box apart many times after powdercoating, and if it was just spraypaint, I would have scratches all over the place

I just ordered a Thermalright HR-05 SLI/IFX. We'll see if it fits in a few days I'm hoping this as a NB cooler will drop motherboard and CPU temps, anything will be appreciated.

The only issue I see with powdercot is that it is thick and tends to fill small (rivet) holes and all those 64ths of an inch start to add up when reassembling. But it is much tougher than paint. It won't scratch but it can chip...a possible problem when drilling.

Got the A900 running...it's working good.
