No 4 or 8 pin connector other than the molex near the first PCIe slot..
speaking of which that PCIe x4 is kinda funny its open ended AND has a clip to hook in a video card i guess ... interesting

Is that the 8pin CPU connector in the middle of the motherboard?
I like the layout of all the fan headers though.

Probably just missing it. It is to the right of the DIMM slots.

Keep in mind that this is a pre production board for validation and bios refinement purposes only.

but for your missing power connectors.

It's funny but the Nahelem stuff is like a trip back in time to K8 days.
Bloomsfield is actually just like AMD. Need a Northbridge and Southbridge.
    Northbridge for a PCIe controller.

All other Nehalem versions wont have a Northbridge tho, since they got ondie PCIe.

Let us hope for cheap lga1336 xeons (got a feeling the highend desktop one will be EE), this thing looks wicked! That is some heavy duty power system, do I count 12 mosfets? I always liked this layout the best, reminds me of my old DFI NF4U.

Btw, there is also a molex power connector under the rear I/O panel.

So does Bloomfield equate to Extreme Edition and UP/DP servers that costs 1k$ per CPU or will there be performance-line of Bloomfield CPUs comparable to 6000 -series Conroes/Kentsfields?
You were not supposed to see this.

in all the recent pictures of Nehalem die I haven't seen any PCIe links...

And you're making mistake calling the AMD chipsets NB+SB combo! If you want to be precise it's a combo of PCIe "Tunnel" and I/O controller!

NB by definition must have mem ctr. to bi called "bridge", 'cos it function is tu bridge "roads" from memory, and I/O controller with the "road" to the CPU it self (BUS)
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

Maybe because you have only seen server/extreme? Desktop is Q1 2009 first.
Also HKEPC already shown boards without a northbridge.

Your "noise" about the northbridge is just as useful as talking native quad vs quad. Northbridge is used for the primary chip, and usually in "top". And southbridge for the lowend. If you want to stick to schemantics, both south and northbridge is an invalid terms years ago.

PCie is what takes up the main part and also power consumption.

Black may come when it's no longer a reference board.

4 memory slots seems unbalanced, but then so does 3 memory channels since I'm used to seeing things in pairs. Yes I realize there are just new things to get used to.

I don't know why they'd worry much about 4 heatsink mounting holes on the NB, since without the memory controller in it, the heat output is likely to be far less than current NB's. I like the 4 anyway, don't get me wrong, it's nice on an enthusiast board, but people should be aware that the heat characteristics of these boards is going to be different from the past as well.

I would have thought that they'd begin to consider either 7 slot designs, or at least 7 slot spacing with an automatic "empty" slot alongside the first x16 slot. It's becoming the "norm" that gpu's take at least the next slot up from the x16, even on air, and I would have guessed that an "enthusiast" board would acknowledge that. Aren't there a few 7 slot board designs around?

Interesting pics, nonetheless. Movieman is having visions of dual slot goodness I'm sure

The board is fugly, and I don't like RAM placement AT ALL...

Who cares if it is fugly? This board is probably just for testing, and even when it will hit retail, it won't be an expensive high-end board. The important thing is they can show us socket 1366 and the made progress. When should socket 1366 or Bloomfield be launched?

I hope we can get some LGA775 heatsinks compatible--did I count correctly? Those 12 mounting holes at various places... looks like it may be LGA775 compatible or something. I'll check it out with scales later today.

thats because the mainstream versions are based on the same core, but seperate and unique designs that require their own tapeouts. you have not seen any die shots of them yet
