    Thumbs up X38 Maximus Extreme - 600FSB.

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=331591

theres no real trick to doing this.
    cool the board well.
    push the voltages alittle.
    have a good CPU.

    voltages for this OC.

    1.55 for CPU.
    1.8 for PLL.
    1.85 for NB.
    1.7 for VFSB.
    1.225 for SB.

    strap 333.

boots everytime, however I am well beyond the cooling limit of my phase change. this B2 puts out a ton of heat.
its always been like this, hot.
unfortunatly, to get 4.2 stable, takes near 1.6 volts.
but what I can maintain stable, is around 1.55 volts or less.
so I am limited by my cooling on this CPU.
just need some dry ice I guess.

my previous best with this CPU was 591 about a year ago on a P5B deluxe.
but that took clockgen, and a ton of time.
this is straight boot from bios.

personally, I am just impressed to see this board do this.
I've been running a E8400 for a few weeks at 9 x 515, game stable for weeks now. but I took it out recently to test a new CPU, the Q9550 C1, but taking a break this afternoon, I thought I'd put my ol'E6300 in here, and see how this board likes it.
seems to be a hell of a match.
just wish I had some dry ice around.

here in juneau, we dont get dry ice till the spring... fishing season.
people use it when shipping fish.
so its gonna be awhile before I can try anything more then this.

    as I am writing this, I am running 7 x 575 at 1.47 volts.
    pretty cool little processor.
    good board.

this OC is more like accomplishing a goal more then anything.

Nice Kunaak X38 & 65nm dual core is good combination for FSB, wish i could say the same for the 45nm procs... Having a real hard time here getting some proper FSB with them.

    you are right loco

there are some motherboards like DFI P35 boards which had GTL ref tweaks which will help you get that extra FSB from wolfdales but most others just struggle

i've benchmarked at 600+ MHz FSB on conroe with gigabyte X38 boards but not yet with wolfdale

    great results ,
You have a very good chip ,
I had this CPU (E6300) 8 months before and mine did only about 550FSB
On phase (now i know that my chip wasn't good for OC) .
I also had an E6400 which did 576FSB (on Commando) and it was a good chip
    i did with the E6400 4.3GHZ
    i7 920, HD4870X2
    Corsair 6GB 1800MHZ

    Nice nice nice...

We could bench at 585FSB on such card, and was with DICE cooling...
vPLL 1.8v, it will kill your chip in time, 1.7vPLL is max for dual 45nm, 1.6vPLL for quad as far as I've been told...

isnt the point of pushing the hardware, to go beyond the safe zone?

everytime I push hardware like this, I am pretty much resigned to the fact that I may kill the hardware.
    I am ok with that.
if I wasnt, I wouldnt go as far as I do.

    take M.Beier here.
    cas 6... at 1000 mhz DDR3.
    thats no small task.
if he listend to everyone... he probably never would have done that.
but knowing him, he probably took some dry ice or something, said "f--- it, lets do this" cranked up the voltages, and went for it.

thats kinda what you gotta do sometimes.
    screw easy, take a challenge.
if you never take a challenge, you never really know what the hardware can do.

yeah, my voltages can be crazy sometimes.
    but you know what?
I havent killed hardware in a few years.
and my risks, usually pay off nicely.
theres days when I just give up...
then theres days like yesterday, and today.
today I broke 1100 mhz on DDR3 and kept 1T.
that was a goal I had.

Sorry kunaak, didnt mean to offend you..
And yeap, pushing to, and even through sometimes is what its all about
But I dont think vPLL helps, but I might be wrong.

Are you planning to test the X48 by ASUS in the near future?

    haha. offend?

    there was nothing like that.
I just tend to like to question things.

I have no plans on a X48 anytime soon.
I am far more interested in the 790i then the X48.
theres just not enough to seperate the X48 from the X38 as far as I've seen so far.

I dont know about the mobos yet.. I actually still use P35, combo DDR2/DDR3 board.. oups

nice FSB for a X38!!! Not many can push that high... My gigabyte x38 dq6 tops at about 550.

Congrats on that and get some DRY ICE!!!

seems you got very lucky with the board, when we tested my E6850 on Maximus Extreme with LN2 (this chip can do 620 FSB on Gigabyte P35) it started to struggle around 525 FSB - nowhere near your results.
I am sometimes really surprised how far results can vary - lucky you
