I'd love some voltage / temp numbers with 4 RAM sticks especially.
With 2 small fans mouted on the cooling fans my NB temp is 47 C degrees with 1.55V, raising that voltage to 1.6 I get around 50 degrees. SB is around 40 degrees. A little to hot I think so gonna add some water cooling tomorrow.

Ok now stupid question but is the formula and rampage the same ??? Like is the x48 just a overclocked x38??? and is it worth me buying a formula for £165 or waiting for a rampage and paying £200 for it when its in stock.

those are some very impressive results! 6 more fsb makes a world of difference!

    @ wilson
i wouldnt even go so far as to say the x48 is a overclocked x38...
from what i understand there is no real difference between the 2 except the x48 has the 1600mhz fsb stamp of approval, but as you can see here we are taking the x38 well beyond 1600mhz

yup confirmed 2.36ES, though its a bit late now...
looks like we are going to have most versions of afudos in es by the time the rampage gets released!

    good find

Its the same board , the diffence is the bios which can be flashed over to the same as the rampage and the x48 is a speed binned x38

the rampage is expected to be in stock at the end of March, if its worth the extra depends on if you think the speed binned chip is worth the extra 40-50 quid i suppose

Ok so i could just flash the bios over and have a rampage ? is the speed binned just something in the bios and the chipset is just the same.
Sry for the dumb question but id just rather buy the formula and flash the bios over and sve the cash if its that simple.

yes it is as easy as just flashing over the bios. the speed binned thing is the northbridge, and is pretty much a fancy seal of approval nothing more. from experience the x38 runs past 1600fsb with ease

Looks like it`s a formula with the rampage bios mod .
Jus one last thing , does it run ok with the e8400.

    @wilson,

the only difference is the physical 'build' 'QUALITY' of the specific chip.

think of it....... as gold (x48) vs silver (x38)
    MB: Asus 'Maximus Rampage' (Rev 1.03g) (Stock Cooling Removed; Thermalright Replacements: HR-05 SLI/IFX, HR-09 U T2, HR-09 S T2)
    CPU: Intel Q6600 'G0' w/VID: 1.2625v @ 3720MHz (465x8) Fully-Lapped to 2500 Grit. vCore @ 1.3625 (Everest) w/ vDroop Mod & MX-2
    Mem: Corsair Dominator 8500 (2x1 GB) @ 5-5-5-15 DDR2-1116
    PS: Corsair HX620 w/Fan Mod (Yate-Loon 'Medium', w/Added Potentiometer)
    Vid: BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 512 (G92) & 8600 GT 512 (G84); BOTH Volt-Modded, Hard-Clocked, Cooler-Modded & BIOS-Tweaked
Snd: Creative Labs X-Fi Elite Pro w/ Logitech Z-5500 (Optical-In Used)
Cool: Thermalight Ultra-120-X Fully-Lapped, to 2500 Grit w/ 1x 'Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000 RPM,' overvolted
Case: Coolermaster CM-690 w/ Major Airflow Mods; Yate Loon 'Medium' 140mm's x 4 (Top, Bottom, Side); 1 Scythe Slipstream (Front); 1 Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM (Rear); Sound-Dampening Foam
Fan CTRLr: Sunbeamtech 'Rheobus Extreme' (w/Minor Superficial Mods)
    HDD: 4x500GB Internal SATA Samsung's (HD501LJ)

    Tmps @ Idle: GPU1: 52C; GPU2: 36C; NB: 39C; SB: 30C; CPU_1-4: '27C' <-- (1-4 Averaged)
    Tmps @ Load:GPU1: 76C; GPU2: __C; NB: 44C; SB: 30C; CPU_1-4: '50C' <-- (1-4 Averaged)

Thanks those who posted temp numbers.

How is the Asus warranty policy when it comes to changing the chipset cooling? Will it void it? If it doesn't I'd get an actual Rampage, but if it does void it, there's really little point in not getting a maximus instead and flashing it to a rampage. Assuming the NB is the same quality of course.

Man, I just started reading through this post this morning, and got to about page 5 and said to myself, I'm doin' it tonight when I get home. Went smooth as silk... Just wanted to post and say my Thanks especially to The Stilt and ZenEffect for their hard work. Much appreciated guys, simple thanks doesn't go far enough to express how happy I am as an owner of a Rampage! I hope "those guys" don't lock future Rampage BIOS's from us. Sorta nice of them to let us get away with it so far eh? ASUS has re-earned my loyalty. BTW, only snag I ran into was 0219 did not rec. my USB keyboard (minor). Otherwise, it booted right into Vista x64. Goin to do more testing now... Thanks again M8's!!!

i think at this point the only way to lock out future bios' will be to completely redesign the motherboard. i may be wrong but i dont think there is much asus can do on the software side to lock us out.

I've narrowed down the multiplier bug to loading a saved profile and the multiplier not changing when you save and reboot.

If the multi is 9x and you load a profile with for example, 8x, if you save a reboot it stays stuck at 9x and when you boot it is at 9x in the bios. Set it to 8x manually now and then save and reboot and it should be fine. This is the only quirk I've found so far...

Correct. We've now got the flash tools to flash ANY bios to these boards, even if it had yet another ROMID or was even a completely incompatible bios, we could still force it to flash to our boards.

ok i have a weird problem. just trying to increase vcore because i cant get 3.1 ghz stable (get prime95 BSOD) on a q6600. i had everything stock on the 0907 bios except i had 9x345 FSB and DRAM voltage at 2.12. cpuz showed my vcore (which was on auto) at around 1.334 idle and 1.304 under load. i tried increase the vcore to 1.34 and it lowered the vcore to 1.28!. i had to set the vcore at 1.400 to get it to apply 1.34 voltage, any idea what could be wrong? do i need to adjust the NB or vFSB voltages? thanks

vdroop is normal. make sure you have loadline calibration enabled and it shouldnt be as bad.
