    Mountain Mod Ascension (Custom)

Quick update, MM has released the Ascension model. Here's what they have to say about the Triple Front (Trinity) and the Horizontal rear.

    MM
"We are going to produce some of the triple rad front panels – “Trinity” front panels.

And the horizon back panels – the last design..

So you can purchase the Ascension Duality – if you want to get queued up for one.

Just state you want the Trinity front panel, Horizon back panel and desired finish in the comment fields.

Early May looks to be a go on these and some other NEW parts."

So get em while they are hot.

Another Update, Just got these images from MM. These ARE what will be going through production.

    and

    Layout:

Sketchup: (Thanks go to Marci, and others for their mad skills with Sketchup, I just modified accordingly)

Now Mountain Mods says that they like the design, but are holding off on any Ascension builds until they can get them on the web site. They even said that they may include my design. I just need a few more people to request Acsension's.

The design has room for 3 pa120.3 rads, either horizontally, or vertically. Other rads will have to be one or the other. The front can be inverted 180 degrees, to have the rads at the bottom.

Thanks for listening, now for some ideas!!!

Wow that looks like a beast.

It looks nice. The only thing I have a question about is the mother board support. With the motherboard tray sitting right in the middle, wouldn't it make the lower area have a lot less uninterrupted space?

I think it needs another motherboard tray or something with all that space.

That would be an amazing build, just ad a Bullet Shaped top and it's R2D2...

I am currently filling out my duality, I like the idea's lots of room for those rad's. I also like the idea of reversing the front and getting your 5 1/4's off the ground.

It's interesting, I wonder the range they would charge for the extra space...
That is massive for only one system.

Thats pure awesomeness, cant wait till they have them up on the site for sale.

Wonder if the horizontal mobo support brace would be strong enough to not flex when its that much taller, from what I saw its just a flat bent piece of aluminum with no anti flex support (like triangled corners or stuff like that)\

Deff smart move building it off the ascension design too, since once their released sometime in april you can just ask for modded panels on the case (given they in fact don't include your 3 rad front as an option, which seriously, has got to be the best part about having the case thats that much taller), instead of paying the much higher cost of having a 100% custom fabrication build where you choose all the dimensions.

All that lower area if water cooling pumps, etc..

The Ascension is only $50 more than the UFO (6" worth of extra metal)
The expensive part will be having the custom panels built. They said they like the design, and may make it a production model, if that's the case. No custom costs!!!!

The 2 sides, and the top are standard parts (the sides are standard Ascension obviously) The front and rear are custom.

Well, the mb brace is 2mm alu, and it's bolted to the floor. So it should be fine. Besides, the mb tray holds most of the weight. Yeah, hopefully a few more people will start asking about them, so they can get em up on the site. Lets start a chain letter!!!

Thats why I went with the ascension, It's large enough to hold a 3 rad setup in front, and can easily buy new panels when I get tired.

I contacted them last night after you told me about the Ascension yesterday, and was told it will definitely be available online in April.

With that setup you can have 2-4 of any pumps you want under the mobo, from DDC's to Iwaki RD-30's, wont have to use a Elbow for pumps that have intakes on the top, can place 2-4 swiftech micro reservoirs at the top (best location I think would be is to buy 1 set of HD brackets that mount to the fans, place it on the middle or top right Radiator fan, you can bolt 2-4 to that, and run a tube/s to the top panel where you can have a fillport, use compression fittings to easy top removal, since there should be no fluid in the fill tube it should be easy... given the system isnt running) and have easily 6 HD's using the fan HD mounting brackets using the middle rear exhaust fan and the bottom front middle rad fan (the 3 over the PSU's wont even get in the way as that space cant really be used by anything anyways).

That's awesome man, can't wait to see it come together!
I've been fiddling with drawing myself a case in max in between homework pileups, looks a lot like it.

One question though, wouldn't it be more convenient to swap placement of the motherboard tray and the three exhaust fans?
That way, you'll have plenty of draft up above for the dry components (imagine how little that would be though, with three pa120.3 ), a much better view of the motherboard from the side, as well as better reach for the cables.

I have but one more suggestion. make both the psu slots dual position (8 screw holes so that you can turn each psu around 180 degrees), I'm pimping this on my own case aswell, so that you can flip the psu's around if you get non top ventilated models, and the wiring works out better that way.

My largest problem with your design is the distinct lack of "floor space." Its become increasingly difficult to find proper horizontal space to house large pumps such as the RD30. The floor space issue also exists for the double stacked U2-UFO shown above.

The design I have been planning is two simple stacked CYOs, double Duality fronts, double triple backs, dual Horizon. In terms of pump space, there would be the floor of the top case, the second horizontal mobo tray and the floor of the bottom case. It would be a little like a car parking lot. I would imagine it would have the space for four to six RD30s and three Meanwells, in addition to a regular PSU. One issue is dampening teh lower mobo tray to minimize vibration from a RD30. There'll be the ability to fit six PA120.3s and one PA160. There will be space for twelve optical bays. Of course, this is quite a bit more costly, and then there's the issue of drilling into the floor of the top case, even if the two CYO cases can easily be co-joined.

The other thing I wanted to add is that there's no such thing as a case that's too big for water cooling. You'll be amazed how quickly a case that you think looks big fills up. I felt my Optimax1203 was way too small about 15 minutes after finishing my case lol

That is so right, I am filling out my duality and at first I thought, man this will be so easy, but now that I am putting in both boards and trying to figure out the flow, it seems it just shrunk while I was sleeping... Go figure

I would definitely make sure that the 24pin PSU mobo connector is long enough!!!

The doublestack UFO was done for the guy by a local machinist. The top one is actually inverted, so the bottom is now the top. (neither have tops installed) so it's just open room. No 2nd floor.

I like having the mb up top so that you can see it very well. (I was also going after Virtualrain's Project Rainmaker mod)

Here's a shot of the case floor, the psu's i'm using arn't anywhere near as big as these.

And one with the front inverted.

After seeing those last 2 pics im having a hard time trying to see where on the ground the pumps can easily go.I forgot that the horizobntal mobo tray isnt flush with the side.

Though I assume only 1 PSU will be used so that does free up a little more space.

Precisely.. that's why refrigerators are ruled out. Maybe I'll try a 40 foot refrigerated shipping container. More space. Great ambient temps.

    ePOWER EP-2000P10-T3 REVIEW at www.newegg.com

Pros: Powering my computer along with my air conditioner and my refrigerator, and I used it to jump start my truck once.

Cons: The only problem was the FBI at my door saying something about knocking out power for the east coast...not sure what thats about.

I actually think it's quite nice. I think an option to add another horizontal motherboard tray would be absolutely wicked. I'd definitely opt to house both of my pcs in one really nice case. MM build me one with 2 trays horizontally and big enough to house 7 harddrives, 2 DVD drives, 3 pumps, 3 120.3 rads and some other random stuff like 2 power supplies and I'm in. It can all be done with a case that size I'm sure, it's almost perfect.

What I think would solve ALLOT of ground floor space issues would be if the horizontal motherboard brace extended all the way to the edge of the case instead of dividing up the space between the side and the PSU's.

If it was just a few MM shy of the side I think it would be perfect, lots of things can fit in the open space down there, just not with it divided like that.

I belive that is how they do it. I'm not sure, as I don't own one. I just threw the support in.

Here is a pic of a horzontal mb brace, and it DOES go to the ends.
