I also a have a friend who has had a similar ASUS experience

Damn, that sucks!! I am so glad I can work these things out with my retailer... Yes, I'm using my 3rd Striker Extreme right now, but I was done in a single day.

Keep sending those boards back... Good luck!

im not pointing fingers, or accusing anyone

id simply like to mention that the 2 motherboard pictures of before and after shipment are infact the same picture... it would be nice if you actually took a picture before sending and after sending and have 2 different pictures to show us...

you can tell its the same picture because the anti static bag reflects in the exact same spots... just look at it

Maybe he didn't want to waste his energy because the motherboard looked exactly the same. Why you want to see different perspectives ?

    Thumbs down

Only took half a month to get my account activated manually. Thank you seriously though to the mod who so kindly did.

    Back to the topic...

Summer 06 I purchased an Asus SLI-32 socket 939 board. I was greatly upset that Gigabyte jumped on the AM2 wagon. I was trying to afford the jump from AGP to PCI-E which meant not only buying a new card but a new motherboard. Jumping to new RAM as a person who never purchased a whole system was out of the question.

So I wanted to setup RAID with the new system. I have not gotten RAID to work on any nForce4 motherboard (I've had five or six now). Any way the Asus board I purchased from Newegg would not work with Raid if USB was enabled or vice versa. You could imagine how pissed off I was.

So I RMAed the new $180 motherboard to ASUS.

Got back a used board with a bent PCB corner.

So I was pretty pissed and tried it out just wondering if it would work and it did though it had the exact same problem.

I already spent hours on the phone with Asus techs so we did the whole 9 yards.

So I RMAed the used board and received a second used board this time with the dried sperm on the north bridge.

I called Asus none to happy about getting back two used motherboard the second with dried sperm on the north bridge.

I don't care if it is or isn't I'm going to call it dried sperm on the north bridge!

The main point was that they are replacing new and expensive motherboards with used boards! That is unquestionably unacceptable.

I wanted to share the story here after johnaiton on YouTube sent me the link. I posted a video on my channel. Just look up 'Asus RMA', you'll find it easily.

I've tried to get support from a couple asus motherboards, and those are the last ones ill buy.
Asus tech support is horrendous, and customer service is non existent.

As a satisfied evga user, the comparison is night and day, stick with companies who care about their customers.

I had an Asus A8V Deluxe fail on me, I tried numerous times to get through to their RMA dept in the UK & in the end I just gave up & bought a new motherboard.

I have read recently from people doing RMA's here in the UK that you have to wait around 6-8 weeks for it to get sorted out & replaced which I think is totally unacceptable, also the fact the motherboard gets shipped abroad..

I wont use Asus ever again, especially now they have soldered on bios chips if you have a bios update fail it means you have to RMA the motherboard.

Considering Asus are supposed to be one of the main Tier 1 motherboard manufacturers they dont give a crap about the end users!

I hate when I get dried sperm all over everything.

    SKOINK!!! hehe
Boy that info was old. As am I. Currently my kids have taken over my desktops. They are both sporting matching GTX1080's. Last Christmas I got everyone Oculuses and thus GTX1080's. My eldest is some sort of CSGO champion gold label something or other. Me I work and shoot real guns. Build Comps as needed.

Dont reply to emails since late December and leave a customer with a defective revision.

id just like to say , that i agree asus support is terrible. but in my case i was wrong to expect asus to replace my board or offer support.
i ended up having to go threw small claims court to get my money back. what i learnt was its not the manufacters responsiblity its the retailers.
and the retailer was forced to pay my money back. yahooo! after months of them refusing to pay , it was so good going in there and laughing at them as they payed my money back.
all im saying , is if the manufacture wont help u , maybe try legal avenues, and first try the retailer.

WOW! I've never had any problems with my ASUS boards, rock solid. But terrible support like this makes me want to stay away.

What manufacturer has good support and good boards too? ASUS/DFI level of reliability.

Long story short: 3 different P5N32-E boards, RMAed 5 times in total, making it about 3 month without a mobo. I got the same board 2 times, with a paper signed by some technician saying it's A NEW unused product. they broke PCI-E retention clip in process, then claimed I broke it and since it was mechanical failure they wont accept the RMA. Lucky thing I had detailed pictures of that board prior to RMA, even with serial number visible.

Been using Gigabyte ever since, only had one problem - integrated LAN firmware got corrupted, I emailed Gigabyte support about that, they contacted me with some Marvell technician who made an ISO for me to boot from, with autoexecing flash program. It only took 2 hours or something about that.

The white residue people are talking about is from the repairs on the rear of the boards.

Its simply some solvent kind of crap.

I am seriously contemplating a DFI for my next upgrade. I've had nothing but trouble with RMA's asus products in the past. Sometimes taking 2-3 months.

Asus are making great boards from factory, but after that the support really seems to be laking.

I have it memorized, you can guess why And I wouldn't bother contacting Asus NA/Intl., they don't care, I CC'd a long email to nearly every email on their site (including the head of PR) and didn't receive a single response, I did get a follow up customer service survey call (4mos. after the 1st RMA) and I still haven't heard back from that.

Running an Asus P5E WS right now simply because it was the only enthusiast intel chipset mobo with a PCIx slot, that I could find, but if someone wants to key me in on another s775 p35/x38/x48 overclocking mobo with a PCIx slot I'd be happy to jump ship

Old post but yes, I simply didn't bother to take new photos of the same board. Asus took it back because of the residue on the second attempt.

I'm still stuck with the board they sent me after that that makes this high-pitch noise when the battery is in. Didn't go away with a new battery. The board is now a basement server since the noise is bad enough that my wife won't have me have a machine with that board in our study.
