    Driver needed: Sceptre X24WG-1080P

yah it seems this monitor came without any drivers and the sceptre.inf from sceptre support website only has the following:

    Code:

As you can see, the X24 is in there but not the X24WG-1080P... and I think Im not the only one that needs the right driver profile for Windows XP

Using the wrong drivers wont give me the right resolution options in certain games.

    Thanks in advance.

This should be all you need for your monitor. It basically just tells Windows things like the supported resolutions, color profiles, etc. Is there something that's not working correctly, or some other reason why you think you need a driver for your monitor?

well the monitor belongs to my brother and he plays world of warcraft...

    so here is the problem....

using generic driver profile by windows he cant tap into the high resolution modes while playing the game.

But now if he uses the above monitor driver profile BUT and I say that strongly, that if he uses the above driver monitor profile under "X24WG-NAGA" then he cant tap into all high resolution modes in the game.... the only problem in doing this is that its the wrong profile and not the X24WG-1080P.

Sceptre is aware about this and the most they told me is to just stick with the generic monitor profile since its supposed to be "universal support" in their words.... they just dont realize that certain apps will not work in the desired resolution modes.

This is a known "feature" of the WoW resolution detecting code. The reason why it works in when you select the X24WG-NAGA is that tells Windows about two higher resolution modes (1920x1200 and 1280x1024) in a form that the resolution detection code in WoW can handle.

All the file does is add these two modelines, an ICM profile (which is pretty much worthless for an LCD like this), set the maximum resolution, and provide the model name. The only thing a X24WG-1080P option would do differently is give the model name "X24WG-1080P" instead of "X24WG-NAGA".

ah ha... thanks for the explanation

now could i ask, what about the Hz options for the monitor.... are all the supporting modes available for this monitor using the NAGA driver ?

Don't worry about refresh rate on an LCD. Just pretend it's not there

Seems like you could just edit the .inf your self, and ad the 1080P one, just follow how it was already done?

Yea I think I might try that..

edit: actually I would need to know what the format is first before I can do that: %SPT2401%=SPT2401, MONITOR\SPT2401 ;X24WG-Naga

    Try this file.

It's based on your original, I removed all the extranious drivers except the Naga. I used the same settings as the Naga so if your monitor is supposed to support a resolution that the Naga doesn't then let me know. I also modified the Author, Dates, and version number so windows will know it's a newer file then the original and won't complain when offial ones are posted by Scepter later on.

Copy this one, rename it with a .inf extension, call it Scepter_XWG-1080P.inf and put it in the same directory as your original. Make a back-up of the original, and change the driver.

Let me know how it goes

Cool, it was done awhile ago but I'm still looking forward to seeing if I got it right.
