Anyone using 8GB of the G.Skill 4GBPQ PC2-8000 with this board?
What subtimings are you using? Any overclock at all? Just got some today and I'm pretty pleased, but want to see what they can do...

Hmm, I don't recall making a phone call to any support company or even mentioning a "phone" at any point. In fact, the last thing I would recommend is calling a company for tech support on computer hardware.
Back to the original problem, the user was having issues with "VGA Bios" and tried the short CMOS reset and it didn't work. I simply suggested what has and continues to work for me. And given what remedies hes tried at this point, is a very good suggestion given the consequences.

Thank you, so far so good using your changes. I tried a higher NB voltage before but I'm beginning to suspect I need more vcore on this board. Which is a shame because I reached the same speeds at 1.248v on the P5K-E and IP35 Pro.
A good thing however is the vcore is *rock solid* on this board. Not the slightest budge from 1.288v.
It usually BSODs after an hour and it has been an hour and a half... we shall see.

Anyone with a nvidia 8800 series card check your pci-e frequency in windows with setfsb, even though I have it set as 100 it reports as 125 in setfsb and various other programs, this is limiting my overclock to 430 fsb. 430+ boots but not stable, anything higher then 445 my comp will not even post, changing out the video card fixes this problem however.

What Clock Gen does the maximus use? On ICS9LPRS918BKL I'm getting 125 PCI-E but on another (forget which one) it showed 100, however then the FSB was off.

Anyone know why this may be happening?
With bios 1004, with the absolute EXACT settings as bios 907 except Row Refresh Cycle time which is set at 42 on bios 907, but either 45 or 50 on bios 1004. Here's what happens. Upon a cold boot ONLY, I get this message at the F1 to go into setup prompt every time:
"Error. The CPU Core to Bus Ratio or VID Coinfiguration has failed" On the LED readout it says "InitROM". If I hit F10, resave bios as it is and proceed into windows, everything is just as stable and fine as with bios 907. Even if I restart the computer all is fine. Only when power is shut doen and then restarted cold does this occur. So this is strictly bios 1004 related. Any ideas? I would like to use bios 1004, but I'm tired of the F10 re-saving bios at cold boot hassle.

same with my maximus - ezflash cant flash loader...
Well after a few days running 1004, the dreaded DET RAM hang is back.
pisses me off, it shouldnt take 3-4 mins to get youring pc to start.
rant / off
I've had to go back to AUTO strap and DRAM Freq to remove the DETDRAM issue...
I think this will be my last Asus unless the Rampage has NONE of these stupid errors!
I guess in all fairness bios 1004 is not released yet, so maybe they will get it right prior to posting it. Still, it doesn't give you much confidence.

Yeah...but seriously...how long is it going to take them to figure it out?
First it was the Chinese New Year excuse...now...well...uhm...
What's their excuse now?

I am new to overclocking and I am wondering if my northbridge temp is too high:
Because sometimes I get a Data Execution Prevention (http://ictfreak.wordpress.com/2007/0...on-prevention/) error.
I am running my E8500 on 4.0Ghz
What is a save northbridge voltage for my system?

I had the A8N SLI-Deluxe b4 this board. It was the same, the board was a pos till bios 1016, after that it was a killer board.
I just dont understand why they release something way b4 its ready. I dont mind a little bug here or there. Growing pains are tollerable, but for christ sakes 4 months down the road and there no closer to having this board solid than the day it was conceived. very frustrating
Thanks for your reply!![]()
because I have some problems with my Maximus Formula combining an E8500 and a high overclock I made a seperate topic here:

Any input from you in that topic would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!![]()

Playing around with 1004.
Got my RAM to 1066 with no errors (2x2GB G.Skill PC2-8000)
1100 MHz is still a no-go even with the looser tRFC.
Anyone got a set of 2x2 24/7 at 1100 MHz on this board?
