I've heard great things about the mars. Great voltage regulation and quad clocking. Almost as good a clocker as the DFI P45 board and way less finicky. Also, Sierra if I had to guess I would guess that x48 wont be much more than 790i because with 780 still being relatively new I expect nvidia to market 790 as to the same segment as the ultra and keep 780i around as a slightly cheaper option. Plus, X48 is just a binned X38 so it doesn't cost much more to manufacture but it remains to be seen how Intel translates that into price
.
So you already purchased the board? If you don't mind rebates, Newegg has that same board for $59.99 (after rebate). Link

The Cardboard Master Crunch with us, the XS WCG team
Intel Core i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz, 16GB DDR3-1600, Radeon 7950 @ 1000/1250, Win 10 Pro x64
Who is going to go through the 700+ names and see 1. if they have the color to start with and 2. Are active.
If this goes any further I would have to say if a person is a active member of the XS DC community they keep the color. It is for everyone that puts time and money into the XS machine.
On the other hand xxxxxx for WCG should be just that IMO.
Not picking a fight here, Just pointing out. Also every time we start this kind of talk we loose members. History is our best teacher.

Got an Xtreme System? Bring it here! <----
I am sorry that I even brought this up, never mind. I was not trying to alienate anyone, I just was hoping that we could do something to get our existing members back in the saddle for XSDC and help the team.
My apologies,
John

I've pondered what we could do to have a contest. Something along the lines of "everyone that submits more than [some nominal number] of work units on any (?) XS DC team is in the running for [some prize]" Or else I note that over at HardOCP they have nominations for the cruncher of the month. I think they give away access to the pay-only subforums over there. Not sure what we'd give away, but I'd pony up a buck or two for a Newegg gift certificate fund.

I had been wondering if you went all out for air.. or if there was a bang for the buck/mass alternative that was a better idea.
Its hard to look seriously at other sinks after handling a TRUE though... I know I am addicted!

I'll have to try one on my next build, of course unless I come up with another van radiator....![]()
I've been stuck on the Zalman 9700s for my aircooled machines. How does this compare to that?
Regards,
Bob
The TRUE will beat just about everything. Scythe just came out with a monster-sized cooler called the Orochi. Not sure how it compares.
I have two TRUE coolers matched with Minebea fans in push-pull configuration. The Minebea's are expensive, but they have a life expectancy of around 20 years. My grandchild will inherit the fans. lol
