And it's for that kinda reason that I'm on 0505 again and for the foreseeable future!

No divider problems, no profile problems, no voltage problems. Only problem is the CPU temp reading but I know it's off and I use CoreTemp/Everest anyway and they're always accurate!

Oh, and once in a blue moon it gets stuck on "DETDRAM" but I reboot maybe once a week, if that, so the chances of it happening are slim to none.

Lastly, my performance is higher with 0505 than with 0907...

Bios 1004 is a keeper for me. All of my benchmarks are a tad faster with the same settings as 907.

1004 loaded for me, but after reboot and having to clear cmos, I couldn't boot with 4 sticks. Had to take two out, up the vdimm and then put the 2nd pair back in and now it's fine.

I have mine set to 45 with 4x1gb ram. What does higher #'s do for this setting?

Also, does any one elses 3.3v rail read low on this board?

Hi, thanks guys for being bold enough to test out 1004, I might just give it a try tonight when I get in. Not expecting too much, as I'm running a Q6600 and the main improvement seems to be with the 8000's. Still worth giving it a go I guess...

I had the same problem. You can not use any saved settings and have to set to default values and then set everything where you want it and save them over the existing Bios profiles. My settings would not boot until I did that. It made no sense to me, but it worked.

Has anyone tried using Enhanced C1E on this board?

Some people are reporting lower power (ie, cooler temperatures) on other boards, but others are saying it affects performance as well.

    Thoughts, opinions?

If you could stable at 9x-6x@400 for example with the vcore to be between 1.0-your bios setting then it can work.

    Example: 6x400@2.4@1.0V to 9x400@3.6
I do not quite remember what is the low vcore value. If that is enough for you fsb
then it works. Of course also mobo can handle low multi with divider etc.

I'd like to test 1004 on my QX9650, but I want to know if I can go back to 0907 with EZ Flash if I install 1004?
What I thought was 100% stable is infact not. I can pass Prime95, OCCT with slider on RAM all day long, but I get errors from my nVidia drivers "Driver has stopped responding and has recovered". This is at 9.5x425
From what I have found on the net, this has to do with the RAM. So I have no idea why it would pass in OCCT ram-test, while failing at the shared memory thing with the nVidia drivers.
My 9.5x400 profile is rock solid, and there are no errors from the nVidia drivers.
I've tried different timings, voltages and everything else I can think of, but still the drivers complain.
So maybe 1004 will work better.

[QUOTE=ericab;2819411]flashed the 1004 bios an hour ago, and now am back to 907.

1004 didnt work at all for me.
after the successful flash, i rebooted, and reloaded my saved profile. all the options were skewed; so i went through every menu, and set it back to where they should be. saved it, rebooted, and everytime, no matter what, the lcd poster said, CMOS error. went back into bios finally, and loaded setup defaults, rebooted, and still cmos error. i could tell the bios had updated properly, because i had the extra tRFC options........

.......bottom line: 1004 doesnt work for me.

    QUOTE]

I had the same outcome, when I went back to 907, the bios would keep reseting itself, it wouldn't keep the saved settings. took about 20 trys, finaly working again. I think this is the last time I try an unofficial bios!

Talking Turn your Maximus Formula into Rampage Formula

Most of the people who dwell at Xtremesystems probably have already noticed that Asus Maximus Formula has a bit of family looks with the brand new Rampage Formula.

Actually they seem to be exactly the same board with few very minor differences.

Thats why I wanted to try what happens when Maximus Formula is modified to Rampage Formula

Let´s just say that I modified certain things in Rampage bios to make it work on Maximus. Thanks to the bug I found in Asus EZ-Flash

    CPU-Z Validation

First of all I have to explain few things.

This modification will not have any effect to the functionality of your motherboard.

There are few things related to this modification and most of them can be considered good.

    Good things

    Many new memory related timings:

DRAM CMD Skew on Channel A
DRAM CMD Skew on Channel B
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A
DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B

    Write to Precharge Delay (tWTPD)
    Read to Precharge Delay (tRTPD)
    Precharge to Precharge Delay (tPTPD)
All Precharge to Activate Delay (tAPTAD)
All Precharge to Refresh Delay (tAPTRD)

    More precise performance level adjust:
    Common performance level
    Pull-In of CHA PH1
    Pull-In of CHA PH2
    Pull-In of CHB PH1
    Pull-In of CHB PH2

    Not so good things

With my current knowledge and tools this mod cannot be reverted without replacing the soldered bios chip or programming the chip thru SPI interface with a programmer.

The 3 year warranty will be void.

Asus Rampage Formula bios versions are still in beta stage.
If you find some problems in them you need to wait for a new release.

    How to do it then?

For starters you should get a usb memorystick or a cardreader with a memorycard. All of the data on the stick / card will be destroyed, so backup the data first if necessary.

This mod requires accessing the bios chip several times so make sure that your computer is running with settings you have found to be stable.

Plug in the memorystick / card and download following files:

    Bootable USB Stick Creator

    Boot Files

Extract both of the archives to desired location.
Open HPUSBFW folder and start the program.

Select the correct USB device from the drop-down menu, set filesystem to FAT32 and tick Create a DOS startup disk.

Then browse for the extracted boot files.
    Press Start.

After few seconds your media is formatted and bootable.

    Then download following files:

    Mod files

    AFUDOS 2.36

Extract the archives to desired location and copy all of the files (6pcs) to the root of your usb stick / card.

Keep the stick plugged in and restart.
Enter bios set your usb stick / card as the primary booting device.

When DOS has loaded and you see C:\ type in AFU236U /iLOADER.rom and press enter.
    Once programming has finished reboot.

Turn the system on again and enter EZ-Flash menu in bios (you will see the Rampage post screen already).
Select RAMPAGE.ROM and flash it in.
When the programming has finished, power off and clear cmos.

Turn the system on and enter bios.
Set your usb stick / card as the primary booting device.

    Save the settings and restart.
When DOS has loaded and you see C:\ type in WR1.bat and press enter.
A screen will splash and then it will return to C:\ again.

Type in WR2.bat this time and press enter.

    Reset boot priority to default.

    Enjoy your Rampage Formula

btw. In case something goes wrong and your board is killed in action, I should not be held as responsible.

Dude, that is awesome. I'd love to see some before and after overclocks/benches to see if there are any real benefits to doing this.

I'll flash tonite then... and report if it works with QX9650...fingers crossed...

It's a known fact that if you update the bios, saved profiles don't work properly anymore... you have to start from scratch...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Is not possible to perform the same modifications to a Maximus bios so it can be reversed?

I'm tempted to try it but I've got a good stable overclock and board right now... Might have to find another Maximus somewhere...
