Does anyone changed the fan cycle ic on Asus8800GT yet?
It runs at 100% all the time..
Don't know if you have the old or the new version. The new version (which I have) doesn't use the massive all-card cooler but instead uses something that looks like a rip-off of a Zalman VF900Cu except there's no heatpipes, very few fins and utterly crappy, cheap and useless. And it only uses 2 wires which means there's no fan controller, RPM monitor or anything. I threw that crap away and mounted a Zalman VF1000Cu instead. Dropped my temps a LOT, and it's inaudible since the CPU & Chipset fans are louder.![]()

BIOS Mod didn't work for me. As soon as Windows started up and Rivatuner loaded with my current stable O/C the screen goes berserk and corrupts it to non-usability. No idea why, very frustrating. Tried several times as well. Didn't change a single setting from my backed up default bios except for Extra: 1.1V
Oh well, I'll stick with 720/1782/2040.
Perhaps I should undervolt it?![]()

I'm another novice wanting reassurance.
I've just put a waterblock on my 8800GT, with heatsinks on all the voltage regulators, and their temps are around 35 degrees, and my coolermaster stacker has plenty of fans blowing at their general direction.
I'm nervous of overvolting, but from what I read here, is it true that newer cards are 1.1v as default, so there's no real need to worry too much.
And all I need to do is set extra volts at 1.1 in nbitor.
Thanks, and wish me luck. At the moment, at stock i get artefacts above 705mhz core.
Lastly, my quimoda ram does 1050. Is there milage in messing with their timings, or as hinted here should I scale back to 1000 for "safety" ??
thanks.
