Ok folks, I think our HexEdit and checksum correction days are finally over. I came across this thread (german anyone?):

    http://www.computerbase.de/forum/sho...d.php?t=372893

And here is the link to the ATI 85xx BIOS editor:
    http://www.aledander.de/vb/ati_bios_...tibiosedit.zip

Change whatever frequency/voltage you want in a breeze. Could anyone test it to make sure it works? I'm a bit busy right now...

    Enjoy!

I just tried the app. Did not flash with new bios until I can confirm the checksum, etc.
I used the HIS 3850/512 bios file that I'm currently running on my Sapphire.

There is an error in the Voltage dropdown. Instead of a dot, it is a comma (1,327 and not 1.327) and saved bios file gave an error on opening. If you type the value manually, it seems to save correctly and opens the file with set values.

    EDIT
Just noticed at the bottom of the app window is a checksum display. Both the stock BIOS and the modified show value of 7500

    EDIT AGAIN
Just ran this on a Sapphire bios I have on here, and noticed on the bottom of window that there is a checksum correction taking place when the file is saved.

I'm not at home now, so I can't try flashing just now.

I tryed several bioses versions to use on my PowerColor (All working) and Connect3D (more problematic). But none of them allowed me to go further than 762Mhz event with VGPU set to 1.37V

Perhaps, depending on the manufacturer, some HD3850 VGPU can be changed within the bios others not.

    Other testings: I tryed also different revisons (065, 067, 070, 071 and 073).
The one giving the best score in 3DM06 is the 073 followed by the 064 and the worst is the 071. (Testings made on PowerColor and Connect3D)

    The differences sometimes are huge....

Here's Sapphire bios modded to 1.327V and with 2D clocks disabled:

I have measured power consumption before and after flashing, and disabling 2D clocks does nothing. Power consumption is still ~230-240W when cards are idle (cpu loaded).

Thx for your answer m8, I realy appreciate that Unfortunately there is some problem with *.zip file, unable to unpack grr

I have managed to reach the 857.25mhz clock limit on by 256mb powercolor hd3850 using 1.39v (1.327v via bios and the rest using a pencilmod).

Does anyone know of an unlocked 256mb hd3850 bios?

    Thanks.

That already has a 3d voltage of 1.327v, the maximum possible via BIOS.

Ive reuploded with a checksum of 7500.

I tried the HIS bios with 1.327 volts. It does not work. Vcore only gets to 1.241, tested with DMM on the card at full load.

Ok so FYI the gecube cards can't change voltage via BIOS, but pencil mod works fine. Currently running 810mhz crysis stable @ 1.38v, 67'C load temps.

How high do the clocks go up in CCC with that Bios?

    Cheers.

edit: It also actually is only 1.3v in the BIOS. You can get 1.327v via the editor. Nevertheless, its exactly what i wanted.

Yeh it worked perfectly. I used the BIOS editor to change the clocks and winflash to flash the card.

With 1.4v im running it at 871mhz for the core.
