I know. Same situation here. However, this board is supposed to support the chip, and as such it is faulty whether it is bios related or not.

hmm, didn't realize I had signed up to the beta program. :P

Anyway, I'm running my q6600 now. Returned the qx9650. So, I'm all good.

what are you clocked at? stock it's bad. nb should be quite a bit lower at any clock, are you sure its not the pwm temp your reading?

NB heatsink installation on this board can be a tricky business...

There is somewhere in this thread pictures of mine not making contact at all almost.

You have to uninstall it and install it back again 3-4 times till you get it to make "full" contact with the NB irregular surface.

Sigh, I just bought this board and I can't find a guide of what Voltages and such I need to use. Does anyone have a link, or info?

I tried OCing my E8400 to 3.6ghz, without touching Voltages and Vista64bit BSOD instantly upon booting.

    CPU FPO/BATCH Q745A741 Pack date 11/11/08

Mb NB Temp is 36c in bios wtf? lol.. With artic Silver on the NB HSF... I raised the voltage to 1.304 and it raised to 43c. @_@.

Should I upgrade my bios? The bios is dated 11/07

    Thanks,
    Ret

Thanks for the fast reply Zsamz,

Where can I get this 64bit 4GB Fix for Vista? I'm running SP1 RTM btw.
Soon as I installed I put SP1 on.

Also, any idea if there's a guide for this board OCing wise? I've never seen this many options in my life LOL.

Try the DFI forum. I think Praz has a sticky about this board. It may be helpful. Other than that, try raising the vcore to about 1.3v for now and give your ram a little over 2.2v. Vcore will overvolt a little and the vdimm undervolts. Both should be safe.

I found a sticky on the DFI forums by Praz but... it's on the Q6600 processor and doesn't explain what's safe voltages etc..

There has been some e8400s showing degradation, but most seem to think that up to 1.4v vcore is safe and probably up to 1.45v. I run mine at a 1.35v. I have my VTT set at 1.3v and the NB set at 1.4V. Haven't had any problems.

    do some reading
above 435fsb set gtl to 68%-69%
below that you can leave it on auto but always better manual
if you get confused on a setting leave it on auto
if you dont read up on this board you will suffer

I have a new mobo DFI Lanparty DK X38-T2R
layout and the northbridge cooler is awesome...

but i encounter some problems here.. There's new option called CPU clock amplitude and CPU Clock0 Skew along with CPU Clock1 Skew.

My question is, What's those settings for?

and the problem is, when come to overclock my Q6600 it so difficult just to get into Windows, it hang on the loading screen...

I use the same setting (excepet those new options) as i've tried on my previous LP LT X38 and my Q6600 can do 480x8 with TT Bigthypoon...
But with this new board (DFI LP DK X38) i get random errors and can't enter to windows even @ 400x9

i believe the CPU clock amplitude play some serious roles here...
Pls anyone can explain how to set these setting to get a better OC

    THx..

    Best regards..

Big sighs, I act like a noob and get treated like one.

I'm trying to figure out which NB Voltage I need to get 3.6ghz+ Also what other voltages need to be set etc..

I just tried 1.3vcore, 1.306 NB Voltage and relaxed all my memory with an instant BSOD still, when trying 3.6ghz =/.

no, no..that wasn't my objective...i am just pointing out that you can't ask for a safe voltage if it is going to be above stock voltage...any time you overclock, you are risking failure or damage of your hardware; nothing safe about that.

Wasn't trying to treat you that way. Make sure your memory is set to 1:1. Should be either 333/667 or 400/800. You may have to go higher with the vcore, but most e8400s would do 3.6 at 1.3v.

Also, make sure you disable the vdroop control.

Why doesnt it work though? The x38 boards are made to support these chips, if they dont we deserve a refund since its on the box itself. Honestly though, are the problems occurring when overclocking?

Sounds like a good plan, didn't realize you were running 4 gig. Should have looked at your sig, lol. I'd keep the Ballistix set. Don't know about the Patriot, but the Ballistix run pretty well on this board as long as you don't have any of the new revision.

They're Micron D9's. Only thing that puzzles me is, why can't I run all 4 gb's @ say 800mhz memory, relaxed timings and still OC the CPU itself to 3.X-4.Xghz ?

I tried Raising the NB Voltage to 1.5v and wow...it went up to 43c and hard locked in BIOS after the unsucessful boot into Windows of a BSOD.

you should be able to do 4.0ghz with that cpu verry easily
and you should be able to run all 4 sticks easily
    if i had your cpu i'd be @ 4.5
    i got my 4 sticks to 1200mhz 100% stable 1.6v nb 2.13v ram
before you even put the board in case you should prepare it lol
change the sb tim look if nb nice n flat"i put mx2 on mine" i run 1.6v lol n i get 38c full load @ 500fsb you dont like your temps get a fan lol
    use divider 333/667 or 333/800 = 1:1 n 5:6
and just remember 4 stick you need more juice on nb why dont you start with 2 sticks get it stable first then you go with 4 sticks
btw you got bandaids for your wrists
i spend days of reading before i got this board goin nice and still i'm learnin
if ya need more razorblades just ask lol

clock fine delay tweaking is the key http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4743

Also helps to test each module individually and rate them and usually I put the best 2 modules in 2+4 dimm slots or try to match them in their banks as some modules perform better in some slots.
