for those debating between the xigmatek 1283 and red scorpion

they are the same heatsink with different fans. the only difference is that the red scorpion one or "rs" one has nickel plating on the pipes which will make 0 difference cooling wise.. the red scorpion has a quieter fan and it has a bit more cfm.. imo get the 26.99 one and with the difference of the 13$ get a better fan around 100cfm and dont worry about the fancy red one on the red scorpion.. imo just for looks my info comes from xigmatek today after talking with daniel from xigmatek on the phone he said there will be basically no difference at all cooling wise between these two heatsinks.. he said its so minimal that unless you will see the fan save the money and get the cheaper one.. but he said they have tested both and have seen basically no difference in the lab.. i bought the 26.99 (on sale at newegg right now!!) one and a ace fan for it at newegg for the reg 1283 version!!

Anyone have one of these in a mid-tower (like my Antec 900)? I'm wondering if it will fit.

It fits perfectly fine, and install is a breeze (installin the fan took a bit of practice).

Here's mine in my Antec 900 (older pics, I recently upgraded the mounting with TR 775 Bolt-thru kit. Highly recommended)

Good to know - thanks for posting the pics! Are you also able to keep the side panel fan in as well? And where did you get the TR 775 bolt kit? And just to make sure - this is the heatsink we're talking about:

The exact HSF I have is the Kingwin RVT-12025. It's a rebadged Xigmatek HDT-1283. They are the exact same cooler, down to the fan.

The bolt-thru kit I got from sidewindercomputers.

I highly recommend them . It's only $5 with $1.50 USPS shipping. Arrived in 2 days.

It doesn't interfere with the side case fan.

My Accelero S1 DOES interfere with it, bu that's my gpu cooling.

FYI, Xigmatek is offering free bolton kit to whoever that doesn't like the push pin mounting, all you need is send them a email to complain about it. (only limited to purchase on or before 2/29 though.)

I'm sold - buying mine from Newegg tonight. Will hit them up for the bolt on kit - but would be happy if the push pin one worked okay. Thanks - poohball.

I didn;t realize I posted the wrong link above. Oops.

If you score a free bolt thru kit, then that's really cool. If not, here's the correct link.
    http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/lgbowiscsp.html

The push-pin works fine. The cooler is not as heavy as it appears. The only thing is, I have large hands and getting them in there to push down the pins (near the large 200mm fan) was a bit difficult for me.

Using a screw driver in there was much easier.

Oh, As a tip, when installing the HSF in an antec 900 case, mount the fan using just TWO of the rubber mounts CLOSEST to the 200mm fan before installing the heatsink. The rubber mounts are EXTREMELY elastic. You can swivel the fan away from the heatsink, and mount it. Once the heatsink is mounted, swing the fan back and mount the opposite side of the fan.

BTW, LEAVE the rubber mounts in the FAN when removing/installing the fan.

the cooler comes with intel stock style plastic pins with its metal brackets..they seem to work fine though if you are not worried about them
