Initial impressions look good. With 9800GTX rumored specs, i believe that many would consider sli. If 790i will bring near Intel's oc'ing ability then it'll be a winner...

Exact same layout as Maximus Extreme and I've tried telling malware over at TPu that he should change the news.

This is X48, not nForce 790i.

Most of the new Asus boards have that black PCIe x1 slot for the sound card. Can anyone tell me whether it is a normal x1 slot which is compatible with any PCIe x1 board or whether it can only be used with the Asus sound card? Only reason I ask is that it is a perfect "out of the way" spot for my TV tuner

I just reread this thread from the start. Is there going to be 2 different versions/bins of this chipset still? 790i and 790i ultra?

Edit: I just looked at the chipset pic from the Anandtech preview for the Striker II Extreme and that is indeed labelled 790iu, so I guess the regular 790i might make an appearance later, perhaps this Striker NSE from the OP

I though Pinot Noir was 790i and not X48 Dinos
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    X48 im almost sure

Well, they coulda have make one with the 790i Ultra chipset too, like eVGA that makes normal and water cooled versions aka black pearls.

How much more awesome it would be if they can just make those barbs for WC adjustable to turn it inward so it doesnt force an external radiator.

Yea, i saw that but it didn't register, what's up with that/ it's amazing, so sweet but there had to be something,

think about it, you run the tubes off the barbs and right back into the card slot holes.
