    Cheap & fast: Mushkin SP2+ 2x2 PC6400 OC Report

    Hi memory addicts I have just recovered from my loss (E8400). To avoid bad mood, I decided to overclock value memories, because something better is going to ship soon.

    This line (at least now) is based on Powerchip (PSC) stuff. So it's the same as G.skill PC8000 PQ, Mushkin Redline PC8000, Mushkin XP2 PC6400 & PC8500... In Europe it comes in wooden case, quite elegant It's equipped with FrostByte radiators.

    Testing bench:

    "PC8000"

    Q6600 "G0" - www.yamo.pl
    @ Pentagram HP100 AlCu - www.pentagram.pl
    abit IX38 QuadGT www.yamo.pl
    XFX 8600 GT OC Edition
    Hitachi 500 GB SATA - www.yamo.pl
    Sony DRU-700A DVD-TW
    Mushkin SP2+ PC6400 5-5-5-18 1.8v - www.ddr2.pl
    Tagan EasyCon XL 700W - www.pc-tuning.pl

    "PC8500"

    E2160
    @ Pentagram HP120 AlCu - www.pentagram.pl
    Foxconn Mars - Foxconn Poland
    Asus EN6800 GT
    Maxtor DiamondMax 9+ 80 GB SATA
    Mushkin SP2+ PC6400 5-5-5-18 1.8v - www.ddr2.pl
    Pentagram 1050W ES - www.pentagram.pl
    How it clocks...

    abit IX38 QuadGT (Bios settings: 2.1v, 5-5-5-12, trfc @ 52)

    Foxconn Mars (Bios settings: 2.25v, 5-5-5-15, trfc @ 52)

    I tested 2 different sets. On abit - 1000 MHz DDR 2x2 GB is max stable, at least on my copy. Even Mushkin Redline PC8000 2x2 GB aren't stable at PC8500... Foxconn Mars is better motherboard for 2x2 GB clocking hehe.

    I had 20+ sets of this memory. Only ~ 20% do PC8500 completely stable on low volts, but every set does PC8000+ It runs very cool on low volts (2.0v - 2.25v), above 2.3 it becomes quiet warm. The best set from all does 1066 MHz DDR @ 2.16v (real DMM) with TRFC46.

    Summing up, it's really good memory even for overclockers

    Thanks for the review.

    Im reconsidering the 8 layer 2x2 Gb g skill stuff, but the problem is that unless I get a 2x2 Gb set that can definately do 1066 mhz, it wont be any better then my current ram.

    Please review more budget 2x2 Gb sets people and find me a good one.

    Me: No why?
    Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
    Me: what PSU was that again?
    Friend: Antec 480w

    @Spyrus

    HP2 maybe in 2 weeks time, there is special "oc" edition if I remember correctly, have to check in warehouse in Germany...

    @Garrett

    No problem, maybe tomorrow because now I have to do homework lol

    By the way...

    All my sets are retail, as manufactures don't send me review samples... (only Goodram - polish RAM producer )
