Well it's general good practice to find the limit of everything and then really start fiddling with sub-timings, voltages and everything. That's how I do it anyway.
Same, mine wont stay stable at 3.9 So i cant figure out what the culprit is. Fails OCCT after 30min, But what i noticed is if i put alot on the SPP it will fail (over 1.5) faster then auto. but if i cranked the MCP up a bit to around 1.65 or so, it went for 30min. Not sure what else to do. I need help![]()

I dont think we can be sure that the PSU is a problem without actually testing it. I am sure that 650watts is plenty.
Yes leave all the ram timings at default. You have to take this one component at a time. If the ram is set to unlinked, running stock speed, and stock timings, then you will be only working on your cpu speed. When ya get you cpu max then you should start working on your ram. Then move on to your video cards. One component at a time.
Whats your VCore for 3.9? If you're failing in 30 min then you just might need a bit more vcore. Whats your cooling solution?
When i got to 4.5mhz i was running -
1.56 vcore
1.5 cpufsb
1.5 spp
1.65 mcp
1.4 spp<>mpp

How did you get 1.5 on the CPU FSB. I am limited to 1.4v in my bios. Im using the Zalman 9700LED. Im getting the Thermalright IFX-14 soon, and 2 140mm Yate Loons or something equivalent. My ram is 100% stable at 1066 5-5-5-15 but i know what your saying.

Ok well im trying 1780 QDR (4005MHz) at 800 and 5-5-5-15, which is way below this G.skill 2x2 set, this set runs at 1000MHz, but i said screw it for now.
I copied your exact settings besides CPU FSB and Vcore, because 1.56 is way crazy on Vcore and 1.5v on the CPU FSB i cant get that, mine is topped at 1.4v. It failed within 2minutes at those settings. So i dropped the SPP a bit and took my Vcore to 1.425 (1.36 on load) and its at 7minutes so far with no problems. my question is, Why is everyone achieving such high SPP voltages when mine gets way better times and stability with auto or really low voltages? Do i have a magic board or a bad one? Why is everyone getting 1.5v on the CPU FSB and im topped at 1.4? Oh the questions
Edit -- 1 Hour and 45min OCCT and Prime95 so far, Gonna let it go till this movie im watching ends then i'll let it go overnight once im done playing. but i got 4005 at 1780QDR. I cant believe it. Woo!!!

this message is to for radical. Im not sure if you resolved your sata dvd drive burning issue but i had the exact same issue or possibly maybe even a little worse. anytime i would put blank media in the sata dvd drive to try n burn somethin it would start to spin up to speed and it would say it was writing but it would just sit there and spin forever. then when i try to cancel or stop the program my system would just lock up. it got to the point to whenever i even placed a blank in the drive wothout even trying to burn anything it would lock up. but then i tried a regular ide drive and it worked just fine.
you said you were using a raid configuration if im not mistaking, and im not sure if this will work for you but this is what i did.
open up system properties and under the hardware tab at the top go to the device manager.
then from there navigate to the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers tree an maximize it.
then from there find the NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller that the drive is on and right click it and choose to update the driver.
then choose to install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click next.
then choose the "dont search. i will choose the driver to install" and click next.
then you choose the standard dual channel pci ide controller and click next and reboot.
and then as easy as that my problem was solved.
like i said i dont know if you can do this in a raid configuration or not cause im a noob an im not to familiar with that configuration yet. you might need the nvidia sata controller for raid but im not certain really but its worth a shot and hopefully this is of use to you cause it certainly made my day when it resolved my issue.
its gotta be an nvidia sata controller issue
Furious did you flash to the PO3 bios? Might be why 1.5 isnt in your bios. Yea if ya dont have good cooling dont go to the 1.56vcore.
Mine should be ariving in next week,
I have X38 board running my Q6600 @ 450x8 @ 1.4V
Want to do the same with eVGA 780i.. any tips pointers for first time users of the board?
Its easy to flash BIOS?, i followed link and put into a floppy for PO3.. would be wise to flash with that before i install everthing on windows?

I figured I'd pop in and give my settings for 24/7 OC on this 780i, (XFX board)
CPU 4.0gHz (400x10) 1.44v
Mem 1066mHz (linked with 3:2 divider) 2.2v
SPP 1.45v
MCP 1.5v
FSB 1.1v
GTLref is Auto cause it confuddles me...![]()
Been really nice and stable at these settings so far. (knocks on wood)
I'm still using the bios this board shipped with, i'm assuming it would be the first one.

It went 7hours overnight until i stopped it this morning. Im still confused as too why i cant get 1.5v on my CPU FSB but it doesnt matter to me anyway since this is stable now![]()

it should be out the second week of march. that seems to be when everything else is coming out, right after CeBit.
really that soon?!! Man i just barly got my evga 780i up. Is it gonna be woth an upgrade you think?
IDK. ddr3 and native 3way sli and pci-e 2.0. i don't know much else about it.
the second week of march is gonna be a big week if everyone keeps to their promises.
nvidia...

?what else?

it's not official but i've heard from my reps that it's all true.

i think i heard somethin about an asus formula II extreme being released for the 790i series
No its the Asus Striker Extreme 2. but i dont think the 790i is worth it. DDR3 is way to expensive and i dont think it'll make much of a difference in real gaming
