Im scared to do the Vdroop mod because this is a brand spankin new board. How were the temps? Im using the Zalman 9700LED which is a great cooler. Underload atm im at 51C with Prime and OCCT going
What do you estimate for 4GHz Flat? (1780 QDR)

This is just my opinion. Look at this image of the 780i chipset...
CPU Core: CPU
CPU FSB: I'd bet this controls the signal between the CPU and SPP.
Memory: Memory
nForce SPP: The voltage that controls the SPP.
nForce MCP: The voltage that controls the MCP.
HT nForce SPP <-> MCP: The voltage that controls the signal between the SPP and MPP.
Do we have any descenting opinions?

Makes sense to me... I'll give it a shot... recently I've tried to boot at 2000 or 4.5ghz and it bsod' about 30 seconds into windows... what up with that? I have vista 64bit.

Hughy, try 1800 QDR and link and sync the ram to make sure your mobo and chip can do it. Right now im pretty pleased at 3.83 with 1.3(1.35 in Bios) on Vcore and 1088 on the memory with everything but Vcore and Memory voltage on automatic, This board can really scale well with an OC im really happy with it![]()

I'm not familiar with the vdroop mod or how to do it... please explain!
I've had this same problem and I just took the battery out for like 5 minutes and it worked like a champ! YOu may have already done that though.
Does linked give better performance or just more stability. What about those GTLVREF lanes??? What did you set those too? I am right now on 1600 fsb with 1.2 in bios... I think it's 1.76 actual in CPU-z... is this on the right track. I really havent primed for long periods just 1 hour 17 minutes.

yeah, battery pull didnt do it...and what a pain to pull out 3 cards to get to the battery...
evga ok'ed my rma, so with luck i might get my replacement tomorrow, but i think when i get it i will just run a single card and put the other cards in som othe rigs...

Do SLi (2). I honestly dont think the Tri-SLi is worth it, Ebay the other card you have left and call it a day
This board runs great with 2 8800GTS so i'd say 2 cards, Tri-SLi is too new if you ask me

I'm seriously looking at getting one of these since I want to get either a 8800GT or 9600GT SLI setup. I'm really worried about getting a really hot running NB however, what do you guys think are the chances of that happening? Also any issues with this board at stock speed with 2x2Gb PC8000 memory? Sorry for so many questions.
Do the 8800GT, 9600 is for the midrange, 8800GT, i would say is closer to high-end then any of them. My NB doesnt get very hot at all to be honest, especially if your staying at stock. I'd say go for it man, these boards rock![]()

Thanks, reason was I wasn't sure what the price difference would be here in New Zealand but I just checked my e-mail and it turns out the difference is only NZ$50 which isn't enough to justify 9600GT. May I ask exactly how hot at stock volts under load please?
Thanks
My SPP is idling at 51c, but its not at stock, i have it at 1.55

Tri-SLi can be beneficial in the future, but atm i'd say no, No games need 3 Ultra's (This excludes Crysis because its, Well... Crysis) even at 2560x2480 or w.e that resolution is.

Guys, what does it mean if im getting lock ups in the bios. All i did was set the FSB to 1780 and linked / synced the ram. I have all voltages on Auto except my CPU and Memory. CPU is at 1.375 which gives me 1.32 under load in windows. Uhmmm thats it, not sure what else to do. besides get a new powersupply, which i think is the culprit. Any suggestions?

yeah, a new power supply would be one of the first places i would start for a hard lock up in the bios, or it could just be the mobo...

Im not sure if the mobo is just being flaky but its so stable that its hard to believe, maybe auto on the SPP isnt supplying enough voltage to keep it stable in the bios? because in the BIOS its underload so maybe its causing the hardlock. Im scared to play with it like that after reading you guys blowing up mobo's while OC'ing. Freezing in the BIOS scares me bad

I got my 780i about 2 weeks ago.
I've gotten my E6850 to 3.8Ghz so far. (Haven't played much with it)
Although i did have some problems getting my ram "Crucial PC8500" to run at 1066mhz. But i got that fixed, i hope.
I'm still in line for the upgrade as well.

In line for an upgrade for what? Anyway i think im going to stay at 3.83 until i can get a new CPU cooler, Powersupply and get a new SPP fan. I found a good thread over at http://www.evga.com/forums The NB is exactly 60x60 so i can fit a nice fast 60mm fan on that b aby![]()

Do yourself a favor and unlink the ram. Set the ram to Expert in the timings section and leave everthing to auto there. By linking the ram your are throwing in way to many error factors. The proper way to overclock is to do things 1 by 1. Dont try to get it all in one shot.
A new 780i board.
My 680i died from a C1 error 2 days prior to 780i promo expiring. I didn't want to leave the promo for an RMA.
So i went out and bought one, then when i get the new one, I'm going to sell it!
And yes I talk to Mike @ EVGa about me turning in a bad 680i and he said not to worry about it. They will take it(no charges to me other then the upgrade fee)
