SailRabbit, my hat of to you, my friend.
A very nice job and a high standard on detail.
What I am wondering is how/where your hdd cabling is going through the case. On 1 of the pictures I see that you created new powercables (3 disk assembly) but how do you get them behind the backplate (or don't you?). Can you take a (detailed) picture of that? I am curious :P
Where did you buy those extra power'plugs' (those 90 degree, blue ones) ?
Also: what did you use to put over the freshly sawed holes (edges) ?

You can get DIY SATA EZ Crimp Connectors from FrozenCPU.com. They are sold out of the black ones from Performance-PCs.com.

Also, you can get Rubber Fan/Window molding from FrozenCPU.com as well, to save on shipping.

    Cool More modded

Well my friends, last weekend I also re-did my 900

This is how it was... (with my old PSU):

Sorry for the bad quality (mobile photo with an unsteady hand )

I got me a box of these:

I cut some pieces to fit the 900:

    Some pre-fitting:

Also relocated my extra USB ports and did the 'upside down PSU trick':

Which results in the following (with PSU installed):

    Inside with PSU:

    Total overview with all installed:

    Also the 'backward drive' trick:

But I still have to do some cable management

    Front (with slim-line DVD burner):

    Whadda ya think ? ? ?

That USB trick is freakin' awesome. I've always wondered how I could hide those USB cables. This way they're hidden behind the PSU. That's something I'm gonna have to remember.

    Great job

Hey. Been watching this thread for about a year but due to a problem with my account I have only got registered now. Anyway all those mods look great.

So far the only thing I've done to my case is replace the blue antec fans with orange custom-modded led yate loon fans which look superb!

I'm planning a few mods. Would love to do the slimline DVD-RW one but I'm not sure about that as I'd like to keep to sata and then you need a converter and stuff.

One thing I'd like to ask is about the PSU mod. I'd like to mount my PSU the right way up. Would I need to buy new feet to give enough clearance so air can be sucked into my Corsair 520hx PSU? I bought a fan filter so hopefully no dust will get sucked in.

    Keep up the good work.

I went with Logisys LED feet, which raise the case about 3/4" -- plenty of room for the PSU to breathe. I have that same PSU BTW, of course, unbadged and carbon fiber'd.

Nice, clean work. How does your case sound after dampening it vs. stock?

This is what I want to do with my Gigabyte eSATA bracket so I can hide it and save a PCI slot, thus, cleaning the case even more

I use the external power for a CCFL behind my monitor and under my desk... I love ambient and indirect lighting.

Thanks DaIceMan... I have not seen that pic before, but the same idea I was goin for.

    Post Minimalist 900

My kids need a new PC for doing their homework. I decided to build one with mostly leftover parts from my last 900 build. This will be a minimalist build.. (still fast though!) as clean as possible. I love that look!

The few parts I had to pick up are a lot cheaper now:
    Q6600 $150
    2 500GB SATA HDDs @ $65 ea.

The 1st is a MBRocketry inspired PS mod:

Here are shots of the steps:

    Finished:

Next up is the MetalRush USB Mod. I am moving the ports to the top of the case.

Here is the pattern.. off to start cutting:

I'll post more as this build progresses. Waiting on parts from the egg and I need to finish cutting access holes and start painting!

    Post Minimalist 900 cont..

Finished the USB mod. Painting with it 100° / 16% humidity was a major PIA. The outside was easy, the interior paint would fog and build up on the bottom like sand lol. Looked like I painted in a running clothes dryer. Sanded it out and held the can much closer and moved faster. I like the result.. much more of a flat matte finish that absorbs light. Moving on to final assembly. Here are some progress shots:

    Added the Zalman HSF controller.
