    OCZ Flex @ 600MHZ (DDR1200) on AM2

    Hello Folks!

Just wanted to show off a little. And while I'm at it, I'll ask a quick question. As you can see by the attached pictures this clock is very stable. However after 12 hours it decays and the only way to get it stable again is to shut down and pull the memory and pop it back in. Then it's fine. Anyone have any idea what would cause that? I've tried drive strengths, Vcore and Vdimm... no dice.

Enjoy...! Must get long term stable.. Cos it's a nice clock on straight water (especially TT water!)

Dont know what you mean regarding stability. Does it BSOD, freeze, something else?

If it freezes try Prime95. Orthos is unstable as crap and makes systems freeze.

Also, what are you Drive Strength setting please.

    Sounds like something is overheating.

No blue screens - just app crashes and failing to run any stress test.

Drive Strengths are 1,1,1,1.25,1.25,1.25. I'll have to jump into the BIOS and write down what is what but that is the current order of the settings, I just don't know what each description is.

    B/w ? Bandwidth?

Those bandwidth scores are low. You should be able to get another 1500mb/s or so.

And what was your Drive Strength settings then?

Ive the feeling something is holding me back but cant figure out what. Tried a lot but 285Mhz seemed to be the limit while a lot of people got higher. I know it's no guarantee I should be able to achieve that allthough I'd like to try it if I figured out what I should change.

I used low values. Not sure how there are on an AMD based board, but on my 590sli, I used 1.00x mostly, or .75x

Also, if your running 4x1gb of D9. Be glad you got 250htt!

Is your RAM rated for such low subtimings? I expect they will cause problems.

    Try these settings:

KTE, when you are good, you're good. I think you are on to something. Problem is my motherboard will not allow for looser settings. MemSet won't either. Any thoughts? Where's Tic Tac when ya need a good BIOS hack.

What vdimm are you running? Should use at least 2.2v, but not more, and you should be safe.

You might just have a bunk mem controller, try clock one stick at a time.

Did you see KTE's post and my response too it?

What are typical symptoms of bad mem controller?

I haven't seen any mention of what Vdimm you are running?

And bad mem clocking, and irregular stability.

Those extended timings look fine to me though, i was running tighter ones with my sticks on a AM2 chip.

2.35 VDimm... any under that doesn't work. Were you running the same memory? I don't think this memory is rate for those sub timings at those speeds.

I was running the flexxlc 9200.

Same ram, same D9 chips, except mine are lower bin.

Why not just set the SLI memory setting to expert or on?

Then your mems will auto configure for 1200mhz.

I think my sticks are junk. I just ditched them RMA - Theyre starting not to post. I'm gonna get me some cheapo Hynix and see if I can't get lucky

Have you ever seen mem do this? Where's it's stable for 4 hours and them craps out?

Looks like you killed them with high vdimm. Thats what happened with mine at 2.35v.

You have to keep them at 2.2v or less.

Yep and usually it was due to overheating of the sticks. Adding cooling usually fixed it though you may be experiencing voltage degradation or simply a too highly clocked memory controller.

Too bad you had to send em back. Good luck with the next batch

Thanks... If the mem controller is the weak link, then do you suspect I could achieve the same B/W with lower freq and tighter timings?

Heat and vDDR kills. D9's have a major problem you will see around, far too many fail at above 2.2V (some less but let's call that QC issues).

All your timings were high but tWR for AM2/AM2+ was very low. Looking at the timings I was assuming you were running 2.2V because D9's can mostly run 5-5-5-15 1200 2.2V quite easily. I know AM2+ runs it easily too.
