New "unannounced" OCZ 2x2GB Kits under 100 - New price/performance king!!

    Update:

This seems to be new "yet unannounced" kits by OCZ which just come out!! I think those are basically ReaperX but without the HPC! Price is under $100. Those beat Gskil 4GBPQ in price and will probaly overclock a NOTCH better! As it looks the new "price/performance" king !!!

i was debating a LONG time whether to get ReaperX or the GSkill 4gbpq 4GB kits.

those are the reaperX: (sry, links in german)

    http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a295145.html

until i found those (which are not made by OCZ anymore)

    http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a306025.html
    OCZ XTC Platinum

If you look at the part nrs you can see

    OCZ2RPX10004GK ReaperX and
    OCZ2P10004GK OCZ XTC Plats

I am almost 100% positive that those are the same chips, and the reapers are the same ones just with this fancy HS. So i just ordered the XTC plats. I just dont care for spending 50% more for the HPC of the ReaperX!

Also..from all what i heard the reaperX (or OCZ XTC Plats for that matter) are SLIGHTLY better than the Gskill 4GBPQ - so i got me a nice set of those 4GB OCZ for $99.

Since those sticks OCZ2P10004GK are not made anymore i would recommend looking for them because they're a good deal !

I am pretty certain that OCZ sold those XTC Plats once, but then stopped producing and selling them and transformed them into the "ReaperX". So..if you want reaperX speed, spend LESS than Gskill 4GBPQ and if you dont care for the HPC sinks thenh get those as long as they're hot!! <---- extreme performance at bargain price!!!

Another mystery surrounding those kicka$$ sticks is that you dont get ANY info on google looking for the part nr. especially not for the 2x2Gb parts!!!

    It gets better:

    UPDATED: 4GB of DDR2-1000 for under €100

German retailer OC-Wear has listed the new, yet unannounced, 4GB 1000MHz kit from OCZ, branded OCZ PC2-8000 Platinum XTC Dual Channel 4096MB kit.

It is a new 4GB kit featuring Platinum XTC heatspreaders, decent latencies and is available at a great price. The new Platinum series kit comes as two 2GB modules rated to work at 1000MHz with 5-5-5-18 latencies. The rated voltage is 2.1-2.15V.

According to our information, this kit is also a decent overclocker, and apparently it can easily reach 1100MHz, if not even more. The best thing is that it is selling at an incredible €99,95 including tax, and it should be available sometime next week. You can order the kit here.

UPDATE: Two more retailers have just listed this new OCZ 4GB kit. The German K&M Elektronik sells the new kit for €99.90 and the Swiss e-tailer Brack Electronics AG has it for CHF 249.00.

    ---------- snip ----------------------

Or..are those really NEW sticks...or are those old ones?? If this is the case than its a "cheap" version of the ReaperX without the HPC!

They could quite well be the same chips as the Reaper X modules. My experience with the Reaper X modules suggests that they do similar speeds and timings.

All OCZ prices seem to have come down in the past 2-3 weeks or so too.

    Flexy,

Those are 1GB sticks and 2 x 1GB sticks, no 2GB sticks there.

Ryder, how would mixing these with 2X1GB D9GKX (making a total of 6GB) work on the P35 chipset (Gigabyte P35-DS4 to be more precise)? Any info on how 2X1GB + 2X2GB overclocks in general (and mixing these with D9 to be more specific) would be very helpful

Just got them from newegg. We'll see what they can do. It should be interesting since I'm trading in my Crucial (new revision) for these.

Also, found the review for the OCZ ReaperX (PC2-6400) 4GB versions. Are these all the same IC's and pcb?

It appears that if you loosen the tRFC (which the maximus will need anyways) higher clocks are possible. I think I'll dig up my OCZ forum login and fish around for some info on the Platinum 8000.
